I really hope not, it is getting stupid already and Del Potro is officially Roger's b-tch now. Boring!

he is somehow on the right track though - key for the number one spot would be, to win one or at least do better than last year in the following 3 majors. this will be very hard to do, because it's not like he did bad back in 2011. A final, a SF and a QF isn't what usually comes by.

Nice list.. Thanks for doing the calcs so we can see it after each milestone.

By the looks of it anyone at all other than the top 3 winning Wimbledon or the US Open would actually benefit Federer since (especially at Wimbledon) Nadal and Djokovic have the most to lose from a loss.

Federer will be cheering on Tsonga, Berdych, Del Potro in any slam match against Nadal or Djokovic.

The most important tournament is Wimbledon. It'll be around that time that he may have it within reach, and it is at that major he has the most points to pickup. A QF Loss to Winning the Tournament just might put him over the top. Needs a GREAT Clay Court season though...and maybe a win in Madrid or something. It's possible

It's very possible that Fed can get to number one and finish something like 2 this year, but I don't see it happening. I see Fed taking #2 for a bit, but Rafa will take it back.

Federer is only 825 points behind Nadal, if Nadal crashes out earlier and Federer manages to win Miami, He will take that #2 in less than a month.

Its like your reading my mind. Im just going to sit back, relax, and enjoy. Try not to expect too much and just relish watching roger play well while it lasts.

So if there something wrong please correct it.

Djokovic (12.670): he has 9.320 points to defend till the end of the Shanghai.

Nadal (10.175): he has 8.325 points to defend till the end of the Shanghai.

Federer (9.350): he has 3.540 points to defend till the end of the Shanghai.

Murray (7.450): he has 5.990 points to defend till the end of the Shanghai.

Whats your thoughts about his chance ?
Why can't you use comma (,) like a normal person instead of decimal point (.) ? They are two different things you know. Unless you put a k at the end that might work

Of course he has a chance. He keeps surprising us all during the last six months and if he can keep this level up then it's a very real possibility.

Having said that, if Djokovic wins Wimbledon this year, that would probably be enough to stop Federer.

Different countries, different systems, no normal.

We use decimal point instead of comma for seperating thousands. I dont know your rules about using commas and dots very well

People around here doesnt exactly know the point systems so well. You know roger doesnt have to win everything to reach the top. Plus, djokovic or nadal dont have to fall before the semis or something neither.

I mean djokovic won everything last season around these times. He will have to do the same which I dont expect this time. Even he reachs final regularly but cant win he will lost tones of points ? Same with rafa, if he cant reach finals he will lose tones of points beacuse there is so much point differences between winning it or being just finalist or between being finalist and couldnt reach finals.

What Federer is doing in the last 6 months is just amazing. He has lost only one match (SF in the AusOpen) in his last 8 tournaments.

He has been clearly the best in the last 6 months, and pointwise he is the best of the last 8 months too.

He is almost a lock for nº2 and he has great chances to get to nº1 too in the following months.

At 30 years old he mantains himself in perfect physical and mental shape.

In the moment Nadal and Djokovic go down a little bit (like what is happening right now) Federer will raise to the very top.

The level (and consistency) he is playing at 30......it is just formidable.

Possibly the best tennis player of the Open Era (even though I usually don't compare players from different eras, because of all the changes in so many things).

Enjoy it while it lasts, because you will never see again a player like Roger Federer.
