Hi Guys, I just purchased two new Donnay Platinum 99's. I demoed two different Platinum 99's before my purchase and both were basically blue in color. They also had an RA of 71 printed on the racquets in the specs inside the throat area were the tension recommendation etc. is printed. One demo I got from Tennis Warehouse and the other from a local tennis shop. I ended up having the tennis shop order the two I have from Donnay. Anyway, the two I received are basically silver in color and have no RA printed on them. Can anyone tell me why this might be?

precisely..
when the dual platinum 94 and 99 were introduced they were black with more of an aqua blue color they decided to change the color scheme a little later and started producing them with black and a metallic ice blue color - i am assuming this is what you have you may have also picked up an unreleased x-platinum? these look like the x-series rackets with the shiny paint and silver coloring on the sides. Depending on the date of issue some of these do not have specs printed on them... 1st gen ![]() 2nd gen ![]() unreleased ![]()

It's so unfortunate they deviated from their own early prototypes:

They also change to Gold 94/99 color. The new gold color looks a little lighter.

I've found this X-Platinum 94 similar to the old Borg Pro. The ball feel and plow-thru are excellent, but the frame is too flexy. My swing and timing are not perfect for this racquet.
My Go-To racquets in X-Series are Blue 94 and Dark Red 94. I've just found good string combo - Babolat Black Gut + Donnay Syncore (very expensive + very cheap) for those frames. Sadly Donnay discontinue the X-Series frames. Many Donnay players here already upgraded to X-Dual, Pro One or Formula, but some top kids are still comfortable with the X-Series racquets. ![]()

I'd love to try the Plat99, but unfortunately they're very hard to find in used condition (and I don't want to pay the retail price of over 200 Euros to get it).

Thanks for the info, stringtight. Can't see it on their site now, but that is/was a great offer. It's a pity Donnay sells their stuff at such a high price here in Europe.
