Definitely a great racquet for driving the ball as opposed to loopy donnay shots, which I do more with the PD. Serves were booming and I was hitting a low flat hard serve, which I don't normally do. Nice feel also and volleys and net play were great. I am just wondering if this may be too much racquet for a 3.5-4.0 level player? It feels closer to a 95" than a 100" for a 97" headsize. No real complaints yet, but I have to see how this higher swingweight works out for me.

Hi Jack, just set up earlier. Once you get use to a sw of 330's and up, there's no going back to anything lower, just dosent feel right.

3.5-4.0 usually start setting up once the ball passes the net, then what happens is that they arm the ball. this makes the racquet seems slow.

If you just move into position a tad earlier, use your legs and hips for your power strokes, your hands dosent do much. It's just glides. This is the start of extreme racquet head speed, even with very high sw sticks.

Great advice. I think the key is to use the kinetic chain your body has and not muscle or arm the ball. I have to admit, I do enjoy the extra natural power the Pro One gives you. This has to be the most solid feeling 11.5 oz racquet ever. Feels every bit as solid as any 12 oz stick.

I agree here. As with any heavy racquet, positioning and early set up are key in getting good consistent results. It's taken me a few months with the Pro 1 to really start doing the above consistently on 90% of my strokes. Coming from a Pro Open I could be lazy a lot and whip that racquet with my arm and come away with a great shot. The same is possible with the Pro 1 but if you arm your strokes often you will fatigue (and possibly injure) your arm quickly.

I am coming from a similar 11 oz racquet (PD 12) and am going thru the same adjustment. It probably an increase in sw of about 10-15 pts. Hope the transition goes quick! . I used to play with a YT Radical Pro, so I know I can do it.

The YTRP was about 2 years ago. I have been using 11 oz. Sw 320 sticks for the past year, so I hope I can adjust to the swingweight.

I am getting more used to the higher swingweight. I agree its hard to go back now! I tried my stock PD at the end of the night and it felt too light with very little plowthru. What level are you Xone? I am 4.0 in one league and 3.5 in another.

Default 10 grams of boom!

I've been using the Pro 1 since december. I'm not sure why i never put the 10 gram butt-cap in before but i did today and wow! I read others reviews extolling how it played better with the extra weight but I stupidly ignored it. Usually i'm good for anywhere from 4 to 8 aces per 3 sets against high 3.5's to low 4.5's that populate the ladder i play in. today in casual play i blasted at least one ace per service game. the 10 grams makes my serve that much harder and the Pro 1 feels a lot better when striking the ball. the older guys i started with in the morning were surprised how much harder my serves were flying. the high schoolers came next and to their shock they watched bunch whiz by them at high speed. I want to get a juggs gun and clock speed for my own curiosity. if you play a pro 1 I implore you to at least try the 10 gram butt cap!

***side note, I did have to adjust a little bit on groundstrokes.

I dont have any Donnay weighted buttcaps, but I replaced the stock grip with a leather grip, adding about 10 grams to the handle, and it indeed plays much more to my liking. So it's a mod I'd recommend too.

My setup as well, and it;s been working great.

i'm training for an open tournament now, so i guess that 5.0 in your language.

i play guys that dont make many errors, you actually have to win the point.

but when i play lower levels guys, i just pound the crap out of the ball, they usually do an error after 3/4 heavy shots.

P1 is a god for pounding at the baseline!

Donnay seems to have supply chain issues. TW kept pushing back the date of an expected shipment of Pro 1's after they sold out of their initial stock. I got 2 of mine from a local dealer and it took two weeks longer than anticipated to receive shipment. when i got them neither had the sticker with the specs on them. I hope the quality of the frames doesn't suffer.
