Hi Smirks, Blackout like Black Code feels smoother to touch, their edges not so rigid so TS does give you that 'Tour Bite' grip on the ball and would edge out BO in that department. Not much in it tho.
Power, they are both very similar, I prefer both these strings mid 40's tension in my 89t, helps with power, spin, dwell time and I get more control and feel taking the variables into account.
Tbh they are both really good control strings, I lean towards the Yonex as I find it gives me more feedback which makes control better for me.
The playability of TS as I pass 10 hrs is very good, the edges are not deteriorating at all, I found BO to have a deadish feel from the off and it started to hurt my arm a touch when it died. I used it a few times, cos its so cheap, just restrung it each week.

You should try the eye boggling, flash yellow Yonex Tour Pro too (if you havent already), splendido string, very grippy for a round string, more power, feel is similar, maybe a little fuller, dusty coating, very interesting hmmmm......

Since I used this string the first session I knew it was great, I had used many Luxilon, Babolat and Tecnifibre Black Code, I almost never use(d) cheaper strings (besides the YPTSpin hehe) or from smaller brands, with my experience with these strings I chose the Yonex Poly Tour Spin which matches perfectly my Ezone Xi, but this string outperforms overall any of the others, it is very high quality for nothing.

Yonex has done a great job, I'm almost saying you can't go wrong with Yonex, shoes, racquets, grips, shirts and now strings, what can they do for us tennis players??
Two sets of the PTS and one of the PT now on their way to me. Hope I like them. Will blame you lot if not!

They are a good mid-price offering here in the UK. Not Pro's Pro cheap but not top dollar either so if the performance is up there it will be worth investing in a reel. Does anyone have experience of hybriding this string?

No doubt, but I think performance will come, but sacrificing durability, however I'm not too worried, I used to use Asics Gel Resolution 3 and other earlier versions it was the same thing, awesome shoes, with shorter (in months, about 4) durability, I just happened to like more the SHT 308 a little better in almost all depts.

Asics Gel Kayano for running (have used since the 12 until now-1 are the best for running, still durability isn't great, but everything else is there, so I take performance to durability.

Now i wonder how these companies make any money with people sending shoes back all the time.

All you need to do is string at the right tension, start around 50 then move up or down as needed.

If it doesn't work for you send me the bill to Yonex and complain, hahaha

Thanks Meaghs for the quickfire response. I have sets of each winging their way to me. From a purely tarty point of view the PTS will look better in my PD but if the Tour plays better i will have no hesitation in switching. The jury is out for me on shaped strings so far as I am not convinced they offer the attributes I am looking for. I had a brief dabble with Supex Blue Gear once which trashed my arm. I hope the PTS is softer.

My immediate dilemma is what to put in my PD later prior to a match tomorrow. I need control as I know I will be playing a hard hitter who rarely misses. So; BO, BHBR, Cyber Power, BHSR, Red Devil? I really should curtail my string buying habit!

You are right sir! Will take the plunge and order some up forthwith.

It will be waiting for me when I get back.

For now i have the dilemma whether to do Blackout or BHBR mains as my PD is currently stringless and I have a match tomorrow.

we are used to crap weather when on holiday. At least we aren't in a tent like usual!

Thanks Tistra. 50 is high for me. I use a modified JET method and string poly in the mid 40's usually.

Kudos for helping to spread the word about this string. You, Meaghan and Gary waxing lyrical about it have convinced me to give it a try.

still searching for the right string to compliment my now nicely modded PD.

See. I knew it. It was that commanding tone you have! I did just as I was told and got on tinternet.

I shall work it out, had enough tinkering with strings over the years to work it out really. Going for control this time to combat the pace/spin of the bloke i will be playing tomorrow who always gives me trouble. He soaks up pace and re-directs back at you. I can hit through a lot of people but not him.

Yonex strings on there way from SW, cheers for the heads-up. Won't get to play with them until I get back however.

I'm definitely going to try these strings in a hybrid. I personally use syn gut mains as it is a little easier on the arm, and the feel is way better. Lots of benefits. I also get TOO much spin in the rdis 200 with poly mains..so I am interested in seeing how these strings match up with SPPP.

Also on a side note, I agree that yonex stuff is great. I dont like the dampeners, but love the supergrap, wristbands and sticks. I should add that their racquet bag I got is reallll nice as well.

Thanks for the offer Gary but match is tomorrow night in Newmarket so no time to get down to you. Mixed doubles but the bloke I am playing is like 5.0 standard. rest of the team is average but I struggle against him as he has no obvious weakness and is able to rip topspin off both sides and is handy at net.

it's not like I don't have strings, just have to bite the bullet and choose one!

Better dash as I have 1.5 hours before my practice starts and need to string the PD! I will let you know how the YTP is when I receive it but might be a bit quiet over the next two weeks, I don't think the Internet has reached rural Norfolk yet! (We don't have Broad Band up there)

My name is Jim I have been a TW junkie on and off since 2007.

My mrs despairs of me as my other obsession is carp fishing and there is a forum for that too!

Went for a full bed of BHBR in the end at reference tension of 22kgs (strung with JET method). Played for 1/2 an hour with it before the poxy rain arrived. First impressions were good. Comfortable with plenty of spin and good pocketing. See how it behaves tomorrow.

I like SPPP too... You are probably going to find more pop and power with the SPPP. Great strings, but a little too much power for my liking and the orange looks awful on my Vcore.

syke

ive got a set of SPPP to try on PP,s recommendation

did you use it in a full bed or did you hybrid it and if so what with????
and yes the orange isnt going to go well with the PD but hey i will just have to close my eyes lol

going to go with PP,s courier,s setup of ogsm/sppp next but im loving the yonex toooooooo much i cant bear to cut it out, also did a racket-tune test tonight and after 6hours of play its at 41.1lbs and i strung the yonex at 52/50,its playing softer than ever and control/spin/comfort is top notch.

cheers garry

No way! I have been fishing longer than playing tennis (since the age of 5- 38 now) and carp only since the age of 16. Grew up in Leicestershire so good waters thin on the ground but loads round here. on a club water in Cambridge currently. Same username on Carpforum but on TW more often than not.

Same as you I packed in when my kids came along but back into it now (went yesterday as it happens) If you ever want a day out then let me know.

Sorry to derail the thread a little. Carp by the way for the benefit of our American friends are not "trash" fish and should not be hunted with bow&arrows. We catch them and put them back!
