Nice article by Tignor.
LOL @ 18 year old Murray's response when asked what his favourite shot is. http://blogs.tennis.com/thewrap/2012...with-andy.html

Nice article and video, his trudging walk in the end is quite endearing, reminds me of Rainman, lol.

Interesting how his ambitions have changed from wanting to be top 10 but also interesting how he downplays his USO Junior title hinting that he realistically had bigger hopes than top 10. Last edited by Fedex : 04-26-2012 at 12:35 AM. |

^ After seeing that I am wondering whether he lacks ambition, whether he accepts being an also-ran. I know you can't judge based on a video taken ages back, but still .. that's the feel i get.

Considering all the stick he gets on here for his 'weak' forehand, I lolled when he said it was his favourite shot along with the drop-shot. No mention at all of his awesome back-hand. It remains a bit of a puzzle why, having spent 3 of his formative years training on Barcelona's clay courts, it turned out to be his worst surface, the only one where he has yet to win a title or even make a final! Talk me through that one Andy. As to whether he did the right thing by giving up football for tennis...who knows? We don't know what kind of footballer he would have made! But he's certainly carved out a great career for himself on tennis courts....better than most!

Sure. But I would have thought his 3 years training on clay in Spain would have given him more of a natural feel for it. I think he once said, probably about the same time as that video, that he actually thought clay was his best surface!
