Default Donnay Borg Pro

Just picked up an used one. Strung it up with Prince Syn Gut @ 47 lbs. Babolat RDC machine says flex rating is 26. Weighs 385 gms.

Going to play my league match tonight. Never played with a wood racquet before. Should be interesting. Will post pics later.

47 lbs.? String that puppy like Borg did, at 80!

Congrats, btw, I always thought those were beautiful racquets.

Wonder how Borg managed to get the ball across the net with that kind of tension. With this kind of flex, even with 47 lbs, i had hit pretty hard to get the ball deep. With my usual swing speeds, i was dropping the ball within the service box!

I played a set with this frame. It was sweet. I did not miss a volley. 1hbh is an issue. With modern frames i am used to bad slicing form (across the body finish, carving the ball). This does not work with this stick. I need to adjust to a more classical swing.

Now i think i need to get a few more of these. They look awesome.

Since Borg used a beefed up version of the Pro it may have had totally different specs and therefor more power. Power enough to string it up to 80 lbs, a tension that would probably shatter an off the shelf specimen....

Default They also made a midsize

Here is another version of it. A bit bigger and lighter, but still really flexy.

i got two of the midsize version but i prefer to use the standard version. The reason being I would only use a wood racquet to play against players below my level, and the midsize one would take away some of the challenge in playing with a wood racquet.

No. It is just some black syn gut that was in it when I bought it. I may restring it at some point but I play with it so infrequently that I haven't made it a priority.

A bit of a bump and derailment, if you don't mind...
I never knew about any relationship between Laver and Donnay, or Court and Donnay or even Drysdale and Donnay. Interesting, I think...

All used a Donnay after they were done with tennis.....I remember seeing Laver hit with an oversize Donnay at a pro am quite a few yrs ago.....never saw Court with one but wouldnt be surprized if she used one in the late 70s and Drysdale has endorsed numerous sticks......Just like Newk or at IMG seems like every other year they have new sponsors and the pros have to switch. Newk was Prince for ever and for the last few years Newk is all Fila and Babolat.

I love how the graph rates it at "stiff" to "very stiff"

What would the opposite end of the scale be then?
