I doubt it was the shoes. I think he was upset because now there is a street in Germany called Federer but there is not even a cul de sac in Spain called Nadal. |

OP, you need to understand some basic forum principles.
1. If Fred complains about slowing of courts (e.g) they are the same for everyone. However, if Nadal complains, he has a point and is speaking "for the people". 2. Criticizing or questioning Nadal is tantamount to trolling and hatred. I actually thought Nadal was tanking when he lost the first set. I went out when he was up 4-1 or something in the 3rd and was shocked to return and see them still playing at 6-5. Regarding "blues": Maybe Nadal was de-priming from last week (MC, Barcelona) where he was beasting. I expect him to be beasting again in Rome and Paris.

a commentator from that article summed it up nicely: ""Rafa needs to quit whining and play tennis. Wimbledon and the US Open didn't elicit player input when they decided to slow down their surfaces, and Rafa certainly didn't complain when it made Roger Federer more beatable on those surfaces. Now that a surface makes him less dominant, Rafa pouts. Rafa, if you're not going to complain when changes give you a boost, don't whine when changes aren't suitable to your game. You're looking like a whiny brat who only wants changes that benefit your particular game. It's pathetic.""

All of that said, I think something was wrong about Rafa today, more than blue clay and footing and all that. Even his grunts didnt sound right. It's possible that he is struggling physically. Tired, legs, shoulder... |

His Vamoses were weak, too.
He may have the blues. Or have been listening to too much BB King.

True, and don't forget his butt picks weren't powerful and forceful. he probably couldn't get proper footing.
