I'm taking my husband for a birthday trip to the US Open... any tips on the best way to buy tickets and the best way to find affordable hotels nearby would be appreciated. I'm thinking LD weekend for the trip and probably 3 days/3 nights of tennis and accomodations. A specific question I have is whether I should become a USTA member before purchasing tickets to get a better price? Thanks for any help!

the Presale for USTA members started weeks ago - you can still join and get in on it for some of the packages - the general public tkts starts in June.
