I was constantly frustrated with stringing oport rackets that i tried to look for new ways of stringing them while being accurate. I looked around and i saw a pete sampras vibration dampener that i never use and i decided to stick a sharpie in the center and use it in between the last tensioned string and the string that i was about to pull. that kept the strings separate from each other and in the place that they needed to be. Just wanted to share that with everyone who has difficulty with that and doesnt have a turntable lock.

Isn't the photo wrong? The location of the pen should be inline with the ports, not the frame part between the ports.

Nothing really new just a different object you are placing between the strings.

Ignore the negative comments. Looks like a fair way to deal with it and an easy tool to make and keep by the stringer. Good job.

I still don't get why people aren't satisfied with the boomerang. Besides having to add a pound or two because it holds the strings slightly more open than they should sit, what is the problem with using it? Prince mailed me three of them (different sizes) when I asked for one to use stringing tours and graphites

New to stringing here... What makes stringing the Prince O and EXO3 racquets tricky? I'll be stringing them soon.

I typically just use the brake on my machine, and no issue, but then again my machine has a good brake system and can take pulling at the angles it pulls. Some machines do not have a brake, or a poor brake, or the tension head on some machines cannot take any angled pulls, therefore other methods are used, like: the boomerangs that Prince has for different O Ports, but not all O Ports are the same, and there are at least 4 different boomerangs, and some O Ports do not have a boomerang avail. Some stringers utilize a 50/50 2 piece string method. Some use an S-Hook Some use their hip to hold racquet steady, but if so with this technique, you should be using a CP machine. Some use a spacer to place between the tensioned string and the previous cross string, like a plastic block or sharpie cap, or something similar to keep the string on the proper side of O Port. Personally I found the brake is the easiest for those racquets if you have a proper machine, as it makes it stringing not much different than any other racquet. You also need to know the short side from long side so string is lined up with ports. Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf_7lfBnOIA&fmt=18 Last edited by jim e : 06-02-2012 at 04:10 PM. |

I like the boomerang. But the OP has a great idea there.

Unless someone has switched the butt cap-mount the P up and your short side will always be on one side. For me it will be on the side I like it on. You may be used to the other side and may need to flip the P. It's at least a good habit to get into.

^^It is the same on all rackets that I have ran into. With the logo mounted right side up the short side is on the left.

I'm kinda of anal about that and always mount the logo right side up.
