Default Found a Yonex R-22 at Goodwill

Perfect shape too, isometric frame, very light, can't wait to test this baby. Feels absolutely perfect. Can actually see/feel playing with it in a tournament it feels so sweeet. I've come to a realization: Yonex are masters at creating racquets.

Default thats awesome

lucky you, your going to like the racquet, since I've tried it I liked it and now have 5 of them in rotation, playing 4.5 and 5.0 tournaments with them as well. What you'll like most is your kick serve with this racquet. Have fun, I suggest a tension of 58 lbs and a classic string like prince syn. gut in gold.

Thanks Ct, wow, this must be a terrific racquet. What year is it from, I'd guess later 80s.

Yes, 84-89 era IIRC. Martina's racquet of choice. Great with nat gut. There were several different weights available.

Fantastic racquet. Feels perfect actually, on any shot, just feels so comfortable, as good a racquet as I've ever hit with. Solid flexible smooth

Check the inside of the hoop in the top 'corners'. That was the point that showed the stress of too much 'breathing' on the machine or impact with the court. Scores and scores of the R-22 model were replaced under warranty and I'm sure hundreds more failed over time. The corner angle was eased a bit, resulting in a longer lasting frame.

It was a terrific racket in its day. We sold zillions with the free Yonex towel to commemorate Martina's run ca 1984.

Played a new opponent today, at 5-0 I changed from Volkl to the Yonex R22 and also did not lose a game with it. 60 60 60.

I can't believe how good it feels, slices through the air like a sword. serves never felt better. What a masterpiece of tennis weapon technology and artistry. Kudos to Yonex.

Some guy at the courts wanted to play so we played. I was just there hitting at the wall and practicing serves.
