S/V players

I have gotten so used to playing with and against players in doubles who are happy serving and staying back. I have run into trouble with players who actually serve and volley...it's sort of disarming and since I haven't practiced against it, it's been hard for me to adjust to someone who actually does this anymore (and well), especially at my 3.5 level. And it's hard on my side because I would like to do serve and volley but it doesn't work with normal team dynamics (one up/one back) that many teams like to do.

How do you all who experience this adjust and practice for it, especially in 3.0-3.5 level? Hard to find s/v practice partners.

When YOU serve, your partner is at net already. Just don't allow him to move back when you come in, unless the opponent's lob.
When YOU return, your partner is standing at the service line, close enough. You just chip your return low away from the netperson, and move inside NML to near the service lline.
If you don't do it, you will never learn it.

Pick your target before the serve. Keep your head down when hitting the ball, don't worry about the positioning of your opponents at the net. If you miss the return, whether the server is up or back makes no difference.

dont go nuts and feel like u got to hit a ton of lobs and hit lines on your passes. just pick your spot and hit a good agressive pass. if he is any good he is going to make some volley this is ok. if he can handle all your passing shots and be able to do a lot with all the volleys he would be a lot better than you and wells it ok to lose to someone a lot better than you. (you can lob as well, i have the tendency to lob to much so thats why i mentioned hitting groundies
