Default Bad Transactions

Hey guys,

Ever had a bad deal on TW?

I'm in the middle of one and I feel like this fella has totally wasted my time.

Sold 2 brand spanking new K90s (originally purchased on TW) and he tells me that are fake and he wants his money back.

What would you do? I PERSONALLY BOUGHT THESE from TW so I know they are legit.

I told him I'm not wasting anymore time on this, deal is done.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Ask TW if they can pull up a copy of the receipt, send it to him.

Thats a great idea but it has been a while. I'm a big fan of Federer so I kept these 2 as my Fed collector sticks for my small collection of sticks. I kept both a Karbon Black and a Karophite Black one. I wonder if it's the variations in this labeling that makes this guy think they are fake. Wilson had a legal issue so they had to switch the names. I'm beyond irked at the moment, such a waste of time :P

I am sure TW takes great pains to ensure that they procure genuine frames only, but if that was easy, there would not be government and corporate experts who specialize in this kind of thing. My own employer has a unit devoted to detecting fake copies of our products in the supply chain.

Exactly, I'm 100% not worried about the authenticity of these sticks since I PERSONALLY BOUGHT THEM from TW

I'm just personally offended by the buyer telling me "they're fakes and not worth a single penny of the $260" he paid. WOW.

I'm also not willing to receive any sticks back. How do I know what he is sending me back to me are actually my original sticks?

This just smells too fishy especially I've sent him 5 pix of sticks and according to him "all looks good."

I feel like I'm getting played here :P and I'm trusting my gut instinct here.

Did he mention why he believed they were fakes?

In any case, you have no legal obligation to take the frames back, even if they are fake, since you obviously did not manufacture and distribute them and had no knowledge about them.

I would just ignore his communication and let him go to small claims court if he wants to.

If he's that angry, I would just refund the money AFTER he ships you back the rackets in the same condition at his own expense.

Just to clarify guys, TW does NOT ALLOW selling new equipment in the FOR SALE/TRADE forum. These happen to be extras along with the used ones I had for sale.

The buyer told me the paintjob is fake and being a former K90 player myself, I'm not sure what he is smoking.

I think he's using this as an excuse to back out of the deal, but I'm standing firm to the deal; deal is done.

TW can pull your receipt and e-mail it to you. Just call them up, and forward it to him.

the receipt went into your inbox. I don't understand why people delete receipts out of their inbox when storage is essentially unlimited. TW probably still has it. But if you deleted the receipt then consider this a lesson. If you didn't delete the receipt and you just can't find it in your email, consider using a major web mail system, which could find the email from TW in less than 2 seconds.

Having said that the buyer still might use the excuse that how can he be sure that the sticks you sent were the ones you bought from TW. The buyer clearly has buyer's remorse. Not surprising given how much he paid for these tennis racquets that probably magically didn't turn him into Roger Federer.

The danger here is he could be a psycho. I like the suggestion of him sending them back to you on his nickle and not refunding until you are sure they are the same sticks you sent him. Also deduct the cost of mailing them to him in the first place.

ps: you still broke the TW rules by using their trading forum to sell your Brand New sticks. Regardless of how you personally justify your actions.

Thanks guys, lessons learned on many fronts for sure.

TW is aware that I broke the rules (they really do patrol the forums) and I've apologized for my bad judgement.

Been a rough Monday, lots of lessons learned.

I would suggest the following:

1) As suggested above, obtain a copy of the receipt and email it to the buyer. Doesn't make your case completely, but it helps.

2) Go to the reference section and post a factual accounting of what has occurred thus far. Make sure to include the buyers' username and email address. If he is, in fact, a crier of Wolf then you will be letting other people know to watch out for him. If he can make his case that the rackets are fakes, so be it. If the rackets are genuine and if the buyer is on the up and up, he may simply be mistaken. What is the basis of his claim that the rackets are fakes? Hopefully, this is a misunderstanding and not someone trying to game you into concessions.

3) In your reference thread, post the pics of the rackets you sent to the buyer. And post a pic of a redacted (less your name/address) copy of the TW receipt.

4) As far as allowing him to return the rackets, I share your concerns about a switch-eroo. However, you may not get a choice if you were paid via PP.

Based on your past refs, you have lots of credibility. Does the buyer have any references? Is he a kid?

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Quick update: I posted this fella's info on the references board so other ppl are aware, I'm curious if he's done this with other ppl also.

Unfornately TW cannot pull a receipt bc their system can only go so far back, these are K90s, it's been a while.

Also, does anyone know of a quick way to host some pix? I want to post the images of the sticks I sold him on the post in the references forum.

Thanks everyone,
Ken
