Default Favourite match-up.

Number 1 for me is Lendl v McEnroe.
I loved the contrast of styles, the superb S/V exponent against the aggressive and precise baseliner.
They produced some wonderful contests, the drama augmented wonderfully by the ill feeling they felt for each other.
What also made it interesting was the way supremacy swung back and forth until Lendl put some distance from his rival once and for all.

Other nominations?

So many others like Sampras vs Agassi or Borg vs Connors or Mac just to start with
Lendl vs Mac was huge and having seen a few of their matches live I can assure the air was loaded with hate, passion and a very dense atmosphere that seldom existed before and afterwards

I was never fortunate to see one of their matches live - I envy you that.
But the ill feeling was unmissable, even on TV.

Edberg versus Becker on fast grass--big serves, great net play, two very good backhands, strong athleticism.

Borg and Lendl - the two guys who established and evolved the modern baseline game that would dominate the sport over the next 30 years. Really wish their Basel match was online somewhere.

Poor ***, you are confused as usual.
This is "former pro player talk" - Djokovic is still an active player.
I wonder, were you banned?
I'll check with the Moderators, I'm sure they'll be able to tell me.

Their match-up is a contender that's for sure.
I watched one of their Wimbledon battles a week or so ago.
It's like tennis from another planet compared with the baseliner v baseliner stodge we get served up these days.

And as for the women, put me down for Navratilova v Evert -it's like Lendl v McEnroe in some respects except that these two actually like each other.

They played doubles for a while till Evert stopped playing doubles and Martina joined BJK

As for pure playmaking I cannot oversee some middle 80 matches between Hana Mandlikova and Martina Navratilova
Hingis vs Davenport or vs Venus were also terrific rivalries

Borg-Connors-A lot of the matches were one sided but the rallies were always excellent
Connors-McEnroe-Enjoyed the contrast in styles.
Laver-Rosewall-Incredible variety of shotmaking and mobility
Evert-Navratilova-See Connors-McEnroe
Evert-Goolagong-One of my favorties. The variety of shotmaking, the imagination of both players. Just incredible.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJLN_f-1Z1M
Newcombe-Stan Smith-Could be boring at times with the serve and volleying but usually interesting.
Nastase-Connors-Do I really have to explain?
Nastase-Stan Smith
http://www.youtube.com/results?searc....1.i2ChKiqF8K4
Mandlikova-Navratilova-Always was amazed by the shotmaking of Mandlikova. It seemed to me and many others that she was the only one during Navratilova's peak that if Martina played her best she could still lose to Hana. I was at the 1985 US Open final when they played and the whole match to me depended on the level of Mandlikova.
Graf-Seles-It's always nice when two all time greats battle when they were at their physical peaks and that's what happened for a short time with these two.
Agassi-Rafter-Rafter's serve wasn't strong enough to overpower Agassi and Agassi's return wasn't enough to beat Rafter's great volleying skills most of the time. It made for some memorable matches at Wimbledon.
Goran Ivanisevic-Patrick Rafter-I'll admit I don't remember any matches they played but the 2001 Wimbledon final but that match was one of the most memorable and the most emotional match I've seen. Check out the final game. Goran is praying and crying. Rafter was such a great sport.

And this last one is for Kiki...
