Default Trading racquets for 1st timers w/o referrences

What (if any) is the suggested safest way for two "newbies", without any prior referrences, to go about trading or selling? How do you decide who ships first, or, should you both agree to ship at the same time, and hope the other party is honest? Any suggestions or feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

You can try to get a third party involved. Try to find another TT member in your area with plenty of positive references to ship to, so he can okay that everything works out. Sort of as a go-between or middle-man.

Another option is to "pay" for the racket. Both of you can decide on a monetary value for the trade, then pay each other for each other's racket. Its like two buys instead of a clean trade.

Both should ship the same day. Check out the other party as best you can and exchange contact info. Then google emails, cell numbers, etc to see if there are any red flags. And exchange clear pics of the rackets involved.

Another (better) option is to do a mutual buy. Both agree on a dollar value and both pay each other for the rackets. Money wise, it is a wash, i.e. you both send each other $75 or whatever the rackets are worth. However, you will both now have seller/buyer protection from Paypal so if one doesn't deliver as promised the other has recourse through PP.

fearsome and Singnflip,
Thats for the suggestions - this helps.

Here's a great idea - Someone needs to start a "middleman" business. Each party could just safely send the racquet(s) or payments to the middle man. The middleman then distributes the "goods" to the parties invlolved. And he gets a cut, or a per transaction "fee".

Question: Any takers for the completely thankless task of being the TW trade middleman? (Dead silence to follow).

This would probably lead to posts biatching about the middleman's judgment. (Middleman Bob: Poor Judgment and Not To Be Trusted!)

There is no substitute for simply being cautious with whom you trade, trusting your instincts, exchanging good pics, etc.

The mutual PP buy seems like a better solution to me than over complicating the process by adding a middleman. If you are feeling that wary about trading with an unknown, then don't do the deal and find someone with refs.

Id have to agree. We'd probably have to have a section of reference for good middlemen and it might be hard to find one in far off areas like Romania or China or Uzbekistan.

Mutual buy seems the best option. Because you're both sending the same amount of money, things stay equal, and plus, PayPal would help hold both of you accountable. Just make sure the amount of money you agree on is high enough that he could just run off with your money without sending you the racket.

TW is there any way I can lower the price on my post?

No, since you are a new user, you can't edit posts.

Just click the red exclamation point button on the bottom right of your post and report it. Please place the new price you'd like in your comments, and we can revise for you.

Edit #2: Whoops, sorry about that, I meant to quote you, instead I accidentally clicked "Edit."

Hi TW.
I rate my stick 9-9,5/10. I've used it couple times and racquet is in almost perfect condition. Is this possible to put it to "for sale/for trade" section ?

Cheers

Default Post not appearing

Hi, made 4 attempts to post a couple of Head YT Prestige Mids for sale over the past week and none have appeared. I have posted before and have never had a problem, are new rules in place by which I may not be abiding?

email your ads to discussadmin@tennis-warehouse.com so we can take a look at them.

Your system is broken.

Why can't we sell new DISCONTINUED items. This is a stupid system, it takes forever for the threads to show up, and your stupid rules are well, stupid. Why do you have a "out of 10" rating if nothing can be posted as a "10".

There are plenty of other users that would disagree with you as they've gotten along just fine by the guidelines we enforce. No hard feelings though. It is a free service that we provide and respect the fact you don't like it. We have no problems if you choose to use other avenues to sell your personal used equipment.

Regards,

Spencer, TW.

There are plenty of other users that would agree with me as they too are annoyed by how slowly threads are posted, "guidelines", and other junk.

Again, and for the last time, we respect that you don't like our "guidelines" and will remind you that there are other avenues that may better suit your needs.

If you care to discuss anymore of your gripes, you may do so by emailing discussadmin@tennis-warehouse.com as continuing to bash our policies on our message board may result in being banned (yes, another one of our policies).
