Tsonga is good-looking, unlike Murray.

well i didn't say he is not entertaining (that is, while still not winning).
i mainly argued his ability to be productive at the net with so many net hits and easy balls for Murray.

while Tsonga might have some very good natural touch at the net, i'll say again, it didn't help him today, so that's my main point.
other players may have less tendency to reach the net, but still, the top 4 at least get stable winners or points WHEN at the net.
with Tsonga, it's going for a fail, most of the time. i'll not argue it LOOKS entertaining.

don't worry, it's not just the Murray hate. Tsonga had a crap match, giving it to Murray. i would say the same if he had played any other top player.

I like Tsonga but honestly today match was a sub par performance for him.. the first 2 sets was terrible.. he made way too many easy forehand unforced errors.. I don't think tsonga will make any break thru in the slams in the near future..

As uncharacteristically poor as Tsonga was off the ground, both his serving and especially his volleying (and half volleying) were unbelievably good today. He lost the match from the baseline. His win % was extremely high at the net.

I had no idea Tsonga could volley like that. I've seen him knocked out of two AO's tryin serve and volley. He must have worked very very hard on his net game coming into this tournament.

oddly enough, murray was getting to a lot of tsonga's drop volleys today. i wanted him to mix it up some more. but yeah too many unforced off the ground and he didnt catch fire.

point well taken. being entertaining isnt really worth much aside from being entertaining. if only the french can really break through, tsonga is the closest, but still a way to go.

the first thing that comes up when mentioning tsonga is that AO 2008 SF match vs nadal and his volleying was unreal in that match ...... But then you haven't watched that match or much of tsonga or for that matter many of the other players .....

heck, he was volleying pretty well vs djoker at the FO , just a month ago ...

Not only did I watch that match, I probably posted about it at the time on this forum!

Tsonga wasn't serving ad volleying on every first serve in that match like he did against Murray. Against Federer in the WTC this year or last year I can't remember he tried to serve and volley and volleyed badly. He tried to serve and volley against Nishikori and got knocked out of the AO this year, and the same thing happened against Verdasco in 2009.
