Default Fed and Olympic singles gold medal?

I think He will take that one too, upsets will be all over, in best of 3 until the final, any of these guys have a chance to take top 2-3-4 down.

Not the favourite by any reckoning.

I think Fed is the favorite for the gold medal more than never.

He will rest this week, play best of 3 until the finals (hopefully he will make there).

Draw of 64 and shuffled as it is, Nadal/Djokovic/Murray can all play Roddick/Raonic/Berdych as soon as 2nd round, upsets can happen.

Draw will be arranged in different way... Rafa can't play his spanish armada before quarters(all 4 will be in different quarters).Roger can not play stan before Semis as both will be different half.

I think Federer's the slight favorite. He'll have lots of confidence from his win at Wimbledon.

I have an inkling that Nadal will come out guns blazing. I know he tends to run on momentum and confidence, which he obviously doesn't have after going 2-2 on grass so far this season, but he'll have had plenty of time to work on his game and that loss to Rosol might be a much-needed kick in the butt to get him motivated again.

Djokovic didn't look great at Wimbledon, but his current C game is still enough to go through most of the draw. Won't be surprised if he medals, but I don't think he'll win the gold.

Murray could either take confidence from his great effort at Wimbledon and push for a big win here or (more likely in my opinion) will still have that slam final loss banging around between his ears and will fall to somebody he really should beat.

Big hitters like Tsonga and Berdych also have an outside chance, though beating any of the top four in the final would be difficult, since it's best of five.

Nadal needs to come back strong to prove something.

I assume he will.

The Gods are on Fed's side. Tommy Haas isnt in the draw. Haas thumped him at Halle a few weeks ago, and this is what happened the last time Fed played Haas at the Olympics:

I'm torn now....all year I wanted Roger to win it (not thinking he would pull off wimbledon) but after Murray's speech I thought...man it would be awesome for Andy to win it...especially after just losing there in front of the home crowd.

Tho I feel rested Nadal is going to be tough.

When did winning a gold medal in singles became the Alpha & the Omega of men's tennis?

Only three Slam Winners have won Gold Medals in singles: Andre Agassi, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, and Rafa Nadal.

While on the women's side only one Gold Medal winner is Slamless, Elena Dementieva.
