It has been missing since the beginning of summer. He says he's gonna replace it... Should I feel ****ed or stay patient and trust him.

Find a way to make the bastage pay for it.

I had a team mate that was considering buying a racquet of mine. Dillweed played a couple of tournaments and an entire season with it without paying for it. He kept brushing me off with the typical "I'll get you the money next week" story. I finally picked it up off the bench just before one of his (non-team) matches and said "If you're not going to pay me for it, I guess I'll take it back. I have someone else interested in it." He couldn't get the money out of his pocket fast enough.

a guy "borrowed" a racquet of mine a few years ago, said "can I hit with that?", then said he really liked it and would buy it from me. Never got the racquet back, or any money. He is no longer a friend.

Worse...I lost a guitar like that. A buddy borrowed it, then joined the navy. Never saw either of them again.

Man, that's a pretty drastic way to bag a guitar...

I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps

Its not about the racket. Its about the dishonest way this person chose to deal with you. Its very rarely about the item more the oh if I cant trust you with something so small like a racket than how can I ever believe you again.

Unless the person is known to be very reliable, don't lend them anything.

In the OP's case, he lost the racket and the friend. But, I think he is only a kid so his naivete is understandable.

PKshooter, you are not getting compensated for the racket by this kid. Have your dad call his dad, or go talk to his dad on your own and explain the situation and let him know what the racket is worth (a used one in comparable condition) and ask for the money. The kid is going to jerk you around forever, go to the parents.

That sucks, so everyone here believes there's no happy ending? Okay I guess I'll get parents involved, but yknow it's kinda ... Would putting this off any longer hurt the situation?

Your friend is addicted to Crack. He sold the racket to support his habit. His teeth will be falling out soon.
