Default Six Degrees Of Grand Slam Winner

You guys know Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, right? You see how few steps it takes to connect someone to Kevin Bacon. I'll bet we can do it with male and female winners of grand slams, only the connection to you has to be your coach, doubles partner, teammate or captain. Use brackets and suchlike as necessary to hide real names. I'll go first.

My teammate is [first name] Vandeweghe.

[First name] Vandeweghe is the aunt of Coco Vandeweghe.

Coco Vandeweghe just lost in the finals of a WTA event to . . .

Serena Williams.

Four degrees of separation. Top that!!

My coach is DG.

DG works for BP.

During BP's pro career (maiden name BR) she played against Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova, Venus and Serena Williams, Monica Seles, Jennifer Capriati and Justine Henin.

*************************************************

My frequent doubles partner is MK.

MK occasionally attends clinics at his club taught by Dennis Ralston.

Dennis Ralston won 5 grand slam doubles titles.

A friend I went to HS with played against Chanda Rubin in a juniors tournament in the early '90s (I saw the match, my friend was ecstatic to get 3 games off Rubin). Chanda Rubin won the 1996 Aussie Open Doubles title.

Right, and every single one of the men i've named played against Grand Slam winners, which was the point of the thread.... I figured people didn't need me to make a pithy comment highlighting that blatantly obvious fact.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but the original 6 degrees of seperation for Kevin Bacon required the other actor to be linked through a common person that appeared in a movie/TV show or commercial. A surname connection is too easy. For example on my team there is a guy with the surname Chang. Michael Chang won the french Open. With Williams there are probably a lot of people with that surname that you could easily connect in 2 degrees.

I've got a 'two-for-one' deal:
I played in the Legg Mason Challenge 12+ years ago vs. a guy who once beat the team of Sampras & Courier in doubles.
Of course, I got crushed 0 & 1, and I'm pretty certain the '1' was a sympathy game, but none the less, I think this qualifies...

And the original "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" was a play on words for "Six Degrees of Separation." You're asking us to link ourselves or partners with a grand slam winner within six degrees.

Our club pro has hit with Monica Seles. Stan Smith was chair ump at our annual charity exhibition match. Jimmy Connors has also appeared at our club. Our club's touring pro is "Dr. Dirt" Tim Wilkison, who was top 25 in the ATP at one point and has played against many grand slam winners.

Do those count?

Mclovin that is awesome. Oddly I actually beat the guy who played with Aggassi, which leads me to believe that they were not really competitors

In college I dated Kathleen for three years.

Kathleen grew up in Douglaston, Queens next door to John McEnroe.

They never made out (so I'm told).

Played tennis with a lady who was neighbors with James Franco. Wait, now I'm going toward Kevin Bacon...

I've taken lessons from a guy who coached Andy Roddick when he was a kid.

Same guy says he lost to Andre Agassi in a tournament.

I've also taken lessons from a lady who played on the WTA, including losing to Lindsay Davenport.

Wouldn't most teaching pros have played pro for a little bit or at least NCAA or juniors against players who now play pro?
