Don't like the second pair, but the first ones are hot. I would have picked some up, but I already have a pair of Nike sweet classic leather.

I like the way they look. The old school look is better than the modern shoes. The black pair is nice looking too.

How do you guys think these shoes will hold up if you play tennis with them? They're pretty cheap and nice looking as well, so would the price

I have the white/light blue ones. I'll be honest, I dont like the yellow.
They are very good shoes actually. If, like me, you like the retro look and don't want to feel like the shoes are wearing you (if you know what I mean) then you'll like these. Deceptively comfy, fast around the court, and great looking.

I love those white/blue ones even with the yellow details...unfortunately they are over my pay grade.

I would say they seem fairly durable.
They have a rubbery toe to protect from any drag and theyre well made. They look more durable than the Vapor Tour Club.

I'd love to wear shoes like this for tennis.. I just wonder about the hell stability on them. Lots of retro inspired shoes are poor in that regards. They look great though.

These shoes are very light weight, more like Yonex weight shoes than the heavier Vapors, so I'd be a little surprised if they are very durable.
How is the toe box width? These are the only Nike shoes I've considered in a very long time. |

Would you guys rather choose the Nike Tennis Classic 12 Wh/Blue Glow Men's Shoe or the Nike Courtballistec 4.3 Volt/white or black/volt? I'm in need of a new shoe for a tennis club I'm in. Thanks!

They are light, but I like that and the cushioning through the heel and sole is fine. I'm a fit 41 year old and I move around the court with much greater ease and comfort than I did with the bigger, chunkier tennis shoes.
I've always believed less is more and that to move and turn at speed requires something with an adequate amount of cusioning underfoot, but low to the ground. This is just my opinion and personal experience, but I wonder if some modern tennis shoes just act as a placebo to make us think we must wear them. Some 'proper' tennis shoes look so cumbersome and awkward and have felt as if I would cause all sorts of other leg muscle strains trying to run in them. If the players of the 70's could wear Stan Smith's (or Hallait's) on hard courts, I'm sure these new Nikes would be just fine.

I'm a retro shoe fan, and I like the way these look. Whether or not you'd like them on the court is really up to you and your game. I recently tried a pair of Puma Vilas2, and while I like the appearance of the shoe, I didn't feel real confident with plants and surges on the court due to the lack of support compared to modern models.

Do these Classics run true to size, or do they run a half size small like the Air Trainer I retros and the Air Implosions?

Yes I do love the retro stuff. And I find I get better comfort from a pair of retro tennis shoes than modern ones. At the moment I switch between these Nikes and an Adidas pair that look similar to the old Nastase's (I had those when I was 14....good times). The Adidas pair are called Oracle, they have the royal blue stripes and a little round badge on the tongue saying Roland Garros Paris. Nice padding around the heel and super fast on the court. I also tried a pair of Diadora, but the 9 was too big, I needed an 8.5. I thought when I first went back to the retro shoes that I would need a gel heel pad or something like that, but I havent. Once youre in the zone and moving about, its amazing how mobile you feel and how quick you can adjust your feet.

Would these be more durable than the Vapor 9's?

Can't believe so many of you are talking about actually wearing these for play.
They are great looking shoes, though, definitely rivaling Lavers for casual goating. Question: is the insole of these Nikes removable?

Yes it is removable. I think that as long as you have a stable upper and a bit of cushioning underfoot then thats all you really need. Vapor 9s are almost like running shoes with a thinner sole and if the 70's player could play in what we now call retro shoes then these Nikes are more than fine. If youre ok with an average amount of cushioning you would be surprised how good they are to play in and like I said in earlier posts, the minimalist weight and lack of heavy duty plastic and stuff all over the shoe helps your feet move so much quicker. I know its very much each to their own, but dont knock these until youve tried them.....I was very pleasantly surprised to be able to wear a shoe that didnt make me dry yak every time I looked at them.
