Default Will this player get bumped up?

Do you think this player will get bumped up? A guy on my team who is a computer rated 3.5 playing up at 4.0 all season. He did not play any matches at 3.5; strictly 4.0. Here are his results for this season:

#1 Doubles - Won - 6-4, 6-3
#1 Doubles - Lost - 2-6, 6-3, 0-1 (timed match)
# 3 Doubles - Won - 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (timed match)
#3 Doubles - Lost - 2-6, 0-6
#3 Doubles - Lost 3-6, 7-6, 0-1 (timed match)
# 3 Doubles - Lost - 1-6, 6-7
#3 Doubles - Won - 6-4, 2-6, 5-3 (timed match)
#3 Doubles - Lost - 6-2, 4-6, 2-4 (timed match)

A lot depends on the ratings of the people whom he played, whether they were 3.5's also playing up, or in the high or low part of the 4.0 range, etc.

It does not look like the player will get bumped based on their results. I know someone who was moved from a 3.5 to 4.0, lost several matches and was moved back down.

If these are all 4.0 matches against 4.0 rated opponents, I would guess that he will be moved to 4.0.

In doubles play it is hard to say. It depends on the dynamic ratings of people they played.

I'm not an expert on ratings, but I don't think doubles should be weighted the same as singles. Suppose the partners are mismatched there all kinds of factors.

In doubles, you and your partner's ratings get averaged together to compare to your opponents' average rating for each match. So your partner's rating can have a lot of affect on how much your rating is adjusted also.

I have to wonder why it matters at all if the guy is only playing 4.0 anyways. Either way he can just continue to play 4.0.

I'd say he is pretty sure to be moved up with results like that.

He might not get bumped. He was 2-5 and we don't know the ratings of the players he beat. Could go either way in my opinion.
