I wonder the same thing too. It's fine to start a large number of threads (Mcenroeisanartist) about unimportant Federer records, but a thread about restoring best of 5-set finals to the Masters 1000 tournaments is immediately shot down (some of my favourite finals have been there, like Rome 2006, Monte Carlo 2006).

Roughly, yes. I was lurking, then posting, then lurking again for several years. Rafa gradually improved his game and conquered more and more territory. The haters were losing one stronghold after another.

BTW I forgot one more very popular forecast: Nadal will never be World No.1, he'll be sitting behind Federer's back at No.2 until Federer retires, but since Nadal will retire much much much earlier than Federer, No.1 is unfeasible for him.

Please, note that it was all about slams and No.1. Once upon a time only slams and No.1 counted. Now what really counts is WTF and the number of weeks at No.1.

Let's have a wild fantasy and imagine that Rafa wins WTF. I bet it'll stop being important

And the local forecasts about Rafa's health were on the verge of inhumanity. Excellent local goreckys, apexes and some other generous souls kindly said that by the end of 2007 Rafa would be living in the wheelchair.

One day all those silly record threads will be in the "Former Pro Player Talk" section and the main forum will be taken seriously for a change..

Ah, yes, I can't wait. And who will be the man to talk about? Rafael Nadal.

They must have been having fits when Nadal-Federer were 1-set all in the 2010 WTF final. The sky was falling.

And probably Murray too. I wonder if that will be the key rivalry. Djokovic, seems to suffer some kind of lapses (and has now probably lost the mental edge over Nadal for good). Murray may not be as good but he's always a similar level, and once (if) he ups his level he will probably maintain it.

Oh, yes, most of those forecasts were made in the years, where actually Federer was in his peak years and the surfaces were somewhat faster. Of course, there were the *******s, much like the *** for Nadal, that were not connected to reality, but there will always be freaks.

Again, read the answer above.

Would you care to point at those posts, to see what kind of posters made them?

You are mistaken. It is still about the Majors and the #1.

If they are about equal, are coming other measurables as, YE#1, WTF, overall dominance (number of Major Finals, SF, winning percentages), H2H and dominance on particular surfaces. Inthat order (for me).

It will not stop being important. But then it will come to how many times each player have won it.

They were mostly laughing at Nadal's excuses.

However, a particular renown physio has predeicted, that Nadal's knees will be in dire straights untill he is 26. Guess what?

The worst Nadal's knees have ever been was 2009. Since then he's won 3 straight Roland Garros titles. I'm confident of 4 straight coming up.

Why do you think that tendonitis is an excuse? With Rafa it's a chronic condition. It's always there, but sometimes it's less painful and Rafa can play, sometimes it's more painful, and he can't. Furthermore, Rafa never cited his tendonitis as a cause of his losses and always gave credit to his opponents.

I don't think that people with normal intelligence would laugh at the injuries and illlnesses of the others. It never occured to me to be happy about Federer's mononucleosis or Murray's wrist.

Would you care to address the points that I made?

Other than that, if you do not acknowledge, that Nadal has cited his injuries (not only knees) in relation to the majority of his losses, I don't know what more can be said. It is a fact.

As for the laughing - of course, that it is not a good thing when it is aimed at someone with credibility. The thing is, Nadal (or Nadal fans to be precise) has brought this upon himself, by using the injury explanation in such ridiculous ways, that noone takes him seriously (even some of his fans).

Nadal can't help it if he's honest. Do you want him to lie to reporters? The reporters are always asking him about his health and knees and why he's withdrawing from an event etc.

Well you two could do both yourselves a favor and everyone on Talk Tennis by leaving and never posting again. Please go to another forum where you can take people seriously and you don't have to see threads you don't like.

Perhaps start your own forum and have it be a Rafael Nadal forum where every discussion is about his awesomeness and the only other threads that are allowed are about how Federer is inferior to Rafa?

I can't speak for you and him, but I won't be going anywhere. I suggest you either learn how to accept the opinion of others, or leave. I don't mind if you have an opinion, no matter what it is.

Let's break this down logically shall we,
Federer:
Pros - 5 time uso champion, current world #1, decent form.
Cons - He is playing Nadal.
Nadal:
Cons - Injured and he isn't playing his best tennis atm.
Pros - He is playing Federer.

Hard to say who will win. I suppose when an unstoppable force meets an unmoveable object, time itself will slow down so that they will never meet. In other words when these two meet at USO, time will slow down to the point that we will never see the conclusion to their clash.
