I just started playing again. I've been told I'm a 3.0 right now.
With a year of practice and more consistency, I can grow into a 3.5 I have an oversized Head racket someone gave me about 7 years ago. I am not an equipment nut, but I thought I'd treat myself to a new racket. (Current racket needs new strings and grip anyway, and I prefer 90-100, not 110 oversize) It seems the AeroPro Nadal racket is "the bomb" nowdays, and used ones go for $100-$125 on Zbay. So, I might just get that. But, I can't imagine rackets are THAT different over the years. Before the Head, I used a Dunlop ISIS Tour Revelation, which I loved. It had the red frame, and I think the power vs. control "gauge" was more on the control side. I'd still be hitting it today if I had not lost it while moving. Does anyone know what the was specifically called? I like the idea of using an older, non-trendy racket like that, and beating people. Any suggestions for rackets I should search for on Zbay? Also, I do not need a racket to generate power for me, b/c I can hit plenty hard. Does this mean I want a stiff or flexible racket? Does this mean I want high or low string tension? It was called Dunlop Tour Pro Revelation
![]() I used it too, and I loved it. I found a good replacement in Fischer Pro No.1. Mine is red and silver, 330 g (heavier version). I noticed a lot of other racquets with the same name. Not sure if they are just different paint jobs, or if they play differently. Anyway, the Fischer is low-powered, just like Dunlop, but precision/control is even better. |

Yup, that's the one! Great photo.
Hmm, a lot of these classic rackets are going for $50-80 used of Zbay. In that case, I'd rather drop $130 on a "trendy" racket, b/c at least that has some resale value. |

Can someone name 4 modern rackets I can demo from TW, that cover the gamut of various racket styles to compare? (stiff, flex, etc)
Ideally, the 4 that are also commonly available used on Zbay....so if I like one, I can have the options of buying used. Last edited by TimeToPlaySets : 08-04-2012 at 12:41 PM. |

DON'T BUY TRENDY RACQUETS ON THAT AUCTION SITE!!!!!!
Go to the racquets section and read the horror stories of all of the fakes. If the racquet is popular (Wilson, Babolat, Head, etc.), there will be fakes that will come w/o warranty and will be impossible to match. If you buy, buy from a reputable dealer such as Tennis Warehouse.

Here is one:
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showt...highlight=fake Just go into the Tennis Equipment > Racquets (section) and then click on the link on the right that says "Search This Forum" and type in "FAKE". You'll see many, many links dating back from TODAY! Just say thank you to Tennis-Warehouse for having such a cool site as this and buy from them!

You can buy used rackets in excellent condition at fair price from Tennis Warehouse. Either look at "For Sale/Trade" section or just checkout the used rackets on the TW website.

There are many good frames on the sale section, more
than enough. Those rackets are almost always the same as the new ones from the same brand, the only thing that changes is the paint job. http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/saleracquets.html My recommendations: Dunlop Aerogel 4D 200 http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Dunl...NLOP-D4D2.html Yonex RDis 200 http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Yone...NEX-IS200.html Those two are what they call players frames, but the dunlop is 18x20 and the yonex 16x19. The babolat that you like, falls in the tweener category, a wider beam, stiff , 16 x 19, lighter ,from that sale section maybe this would be on that field: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Bori...KL-BDCPRO.html http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Dunl...LOP-D4D5L.html http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Yone...NEX-IS3HM.html |

I bought this racket for $28 off Zbay.
I am going to restring it at 50bs. Does anyone know the stiffness rating of the red Dunlop Tour Pro Revelation ? The little gauge is at the 100% mark of "control" |
