Default the Wilander expe$4rience

Has anybody seen this? Mats is travelling the country in a coach and will give you lessons for $4400 per 16 people. That's a little under $300 per, which is very good. And he'll have lunch with the students too, which is cool.

Looking at his schedule, it looks like I could book him for Sept 30 here in DC. Not that I've got $4400 to throw around, but could be interesting. Certainly a strange way to make a living. I've read some interviews with Wilander and he's a very smart guy, which was obvious from the way he played. Definitely my favorite player from that era.

I wonder if he's really making money on this. If he gets booked 10-15 times a month - hard to tell from the calendar - that's maybe $80,000 month. After expenses and paying his sidekick, he could clear maybe $300,000 in seven months per year. Not bad. Definitely enough not to draw down on the earnings from his playing career. Mats doesn't look like a big spender to me.

Edit: here is the link.

It's taken me a little while to reach this point, but if some TT people want to book him, I think we could do it. Sept 30 in DC. We'd have to round up 16 people.

Well there are two of them (Mats and a guy named Lickle), so I imagine they split the groups in 2 by ability. Like Johnny Mac likes to say, "I hear you're a good weekend hacker. What are you, a 5.0?"

They came to a local club near me and did this. Played an exhibition match with my club's pro (a former #1 national junior and former ATP player) and the home club's pro.

I didn't do the clinic, but did watch the exhibition doubles match and it was great.

Lickle, who travels with Mats, is a former Naval Academy tennis team Captain.
