Default V1 Classic MP: Any 4.0+ Players Use It?

Any 4.0+ players here use the Volkl V1 Classic Midplus?

I remember trying this racquet when the original first came out. All I remember about it is huge flat serves, a plush feel, and a thick beam. Now it seems as though people feel it's for flat ball hitting 3.5- players.

Just wondering what types of players here use it; and what the difference may be between the Classic, Organix, and PowerBridge versions?

I know a 5.5 woman and a 5.0 man who both use the V1 Classic. I'm currently playing around with a V1 OS too. Great frames!!

Two of the teaching pros at my club still use these racquets. They enter tournaments as well. So it is not a " teaching" racquet only for them.

The V1 Classic is great for all levels, it is the most solid and arm friendly racket for it's weight that I've ever tried. The sweet spot is ample but the power is moderate and the string bed is very predictable so big hitters have no trouble with balls flying. The only down side for some might be the lack of feel on touch shots because of the dampening system in the handle.
Every once in a while I'll take out some of the other rackets I have, just for fun, but no matter which one I try I end up putting it back in the bag after about 2 minutes because the V1 is so superior.

Thanks for all the input...trying to decide whether to demo the Juice 100 or the V1 Classic (only have 1 demo spot left).

TripleB the V1 classic is a frame you can buy used and easily resell without losing any money if it doesn't justify residence in your bag as primary stick. Worth considering.....I just recently picked up a pair with a long drive via c list for $100 in slightly hit condition....my daughter now has 3 in her bag for the coming season. Had she not decided to switch I could have sold off at a profit. We may supplement with a 4th new one from TW if needed, I am hoping the 3 will be suffiicent

I have hit with one BTW, I still prefer Head 18x20 MP sticks but I could easily bag the Classic as well. I find it lacking in nothing, a little slow at net but manageable - very powerful and accurate off the ground with the full variety of shots....fully capable of hitting flat, kick and slice serves with pace and precision. We have modified with TW leather grips only, lead was tried at 3/9 and she determined it was not necessary.

Her frames are strung at 60# with Yonex spin 16.

I greatly appreciate the input!!!

The two reserves I have about the V1 Classic are: 1) I'm afraid I won't get the spin I'm used to because of the wider beam and 2) I'm worried the 'plushness' of the racquet might be too much (love 'feeling where the ball is on my strings').

Thanks again for your help.

The leather grip eliminated the "plushness" and improves the swingweight in our opinion. Great ball feel too. I think it is a must try for you. You might be best served by buying a used one so you can play around with string choice and tension.

I enjoy reading your posts on the forums so any help I can give is my pleasure. Good luck with it, I can't recommend the V1 Classic enough, gets my 5 stars! I have 2 matched Ti Radical OS in the closet ready to go for when my game slows down and makes the MP's impractical. They might just get bumped out by the Volkl V1 Classic!!

Thank you!!!

I decided to give it (V1 Classic Midplus) a demo - along with the Tecnifibre TFlash 300 SpeedFlex, Yonex VCore 100S, and Wilson BLX Juice 100.

Can't wait to give them all a try!!!

I appreciate your comments.
