Default Nike Dri-Fit Elite Crew Sock

Hi,

I know there has been a topic about this sock before but there has not been a discussion about double socking for this.

This sock (which I have) has the black line up the back as some of you may know. I am wondering if anyone knows which sock fits perfectly over this one.

The majority of Dri-Fit socks are longer than this crew so there is a heavy off-set. The newer TW crew socks have a grey swoosh whereas the Elites have a black swoosh.

I have done a lot of research on this but have not been able to find an answer. I also tried to find out exactly which socks Federer wears but no one seems to know that as well. I doubt he even feels the sock on his foot with all of that ankle tape anyway.

Is anyone else battling this issue?

I don't really understand your post, but I'll try to give you an answer.

You don't want to double sock on elite socks. The reason why Nike came out with elites a couple of years ago is that college ballers were complaining about double socking.

Exactly. Elite socks were invented so you don't have to double sock.

I confused you because I was thinking of double socking over a pair of Elites. I was not aware that the Elites simply replace double socking but it makes perfect sense. I am new to this concept so I am trying to figure out what works best for me.

The actual height of the Elite is what I am looking for but I am turned away by the black strip on the back so I was looking for a double socking solution with that same height. The Dri-Fits I bought were much longer and not what I was looking for.

I guess what I am really asking is - Does anyone know of a Dri-Fit that is the same height as the Elite and has the black swoosh as opposed to the new grey swoosh. I know it exists because Federer's sock are more or less the same height as the Elites (I believe his are slightly higher) but the Dri-Fit that I purchased are too high

Sorry for the confusion!

I bought medium for the Elites by accident. Would prefer buying XL but cannot seem to find them anywhere. I plan to buy more Elites if I can find XL.

The Dri-Fit are Large but appear much longer than the M size Elites. I would say the Dri-Fits are about 3 inches longer than the Elites on the calf.

It was most likely because you got sz M for the elites. (like you said)

Can't post link for TWs policies, but many online retailers should have them in XL and local footwear stores (footlocker, finishline etc..

I will just buy XL Elites and see if they are the same height as the Dri-Fit pair and move on from there. My initial confusion about doubling Elites is cleared up for sure.

Thanks for the help!

I have both USA versions. There nice to wear casually, but a lot thinner than the original ones, they also seem to fit a little bigger than the originals.

He does know that he is just wasting money right? I have several pairs of XL elites but they are SO long.. I am a 12.5 so they should fit but the length does not stay consistent throughout sizes.

Yeah length is the problem I have been talking about. My shoe size is 14 so that forces me to wear XL but the Dri-Fit socks seem to be very long compared to what pros are wearing.

Will get some XL Elites in the mail and check the length compared to the size L Dri-Fits. Not against double socking if I can find Dri-Fits that are shorter.

I have not found a single person who can tell me what socks Federer or Nadal wear.. that height is what I am trying to find.. I am not suggesting I need to wear the SAME sock as someone like Federer.. could just pay someone to go through his garbage to get old socks.. LMAO

Federer and Nadal wear custom socks made only for Nike sponsored pros.

nice, I'm probably gonna go for the cyber black ones
u say they fit bigger as in they're... looser? and these have less padding than the elite? I thought these were supposed to be improvements..

If you look at nadal he doesn't pull them all the way up sometimes. It's scrunged up. As for federer its just double dri fit socks. After you wash the socks they usually shrink a little anyways so that may be the exact length you're looking for. I myself wear the Elites and after washing they shrink a little.

Yes looser and less padding. Quality of new elite socks are nowhere near the ones that first first came out (grey/black/orange and grey/black orange)

2.0 really meant a new design rather than an improvement.

I figured they were wearing customs but I have also seen at least 4 versions of Dri-Fits on the market.. perhaps different generations with the same name.

Jakesteroni - I also noticed that Nadal does not pull his socks up all the way, he is too cool for that. It is amazing he even has sleeves on his shirt

The Dri-Fits at TW have a grey swoosh

By doing a google search there is

black swoosh crew with grey padding area that goes OVER the toes and says dri-fit in black text

black swoosh crew with grey padding under the entire foot but not OVER the toes and says dri-fit in grey text

6 pair black swoosh crew with virtually nothing on the toes or bottom of the foot and black dri-fit text

So excluding the grey nike swoosh versions (which I do not want) I can find at least three versions of the same thing.

Do you guys see why I am ready to throw myself in front of traffic? lol

I guess what I am asking is.. which of those (if any) are shorter. Maybe it is easier for me to just call the Nike sweatshop in Indonesia and give them the specs I want.. lmao :\
