For me personally, stretching helps a lot. Especially now that I'm 28, I always start better, and my body generally just feels better if I stretch, and warm up properly.

When I was 16 I don't think it really mattered, unless I was playing early in the morning.

Just do what feels best for your body, especially as you get older.

Safe is pretty lame, list your certs and how many years u been a personal trainer? I been a personal trainer since 1991 and level 3 trainer and NSCA CSCS since 1994 and Master level trainer since 2004.
