lol could care less about that, a 2nd match makes it ok if 1 hour passes by but 1st match in 109 degree weather is okay

Not to mention its hotter on the court then the temp

I think it's up to the player to withdraw if they don't think they'll be safe playing. Tournaments at all levels have been played in very brutal summer conditions forever. It's not the norm, but in does happen regularly.

I don't see why the tournament should be canceled unless it's just crazy, crazy hot and humid and they can't make provisions for extended time (at least an hour) between matches. I guess there's a legit argument that 105+ meets that threshold, but I've seen plenty tournaments played in 105-110 degree temps.

aus open suspends matches at 104

marine corps cancel training at 90 degrees coz they deem risk of heat-related injury too high. they have restricted training at 75. if u heroes think ur fitter than jarheads, go ahead and play

fwiw american society of pediatricians recommends kiddies not be allowed to play sport in temps over 85 degrees. so if u got shorties, mebbe think about what u doin to them if u let em play

Dude, this is your chance to lose like 50 lbs in a day. Just be sure to layoff the french fries after that.

Where I'm at, all tournaments from May thru Sept are played in high heat and humidity. I think it depends on the player. If you are used to the heat and are well hydrated in the days before the match, you should give it a try. If you have never played in that kind of weather, you should back out. Keep plenty of cold wet towels on hand in a ice chest and cool off on change overs. Good Luck.

Dude, with your 130+mph serve you should end each match pretty fast and hardly break a sweat.

Hydrate well...VERY WELL... and give the 1st match a go...chances are if it's as bad as it may sound there are going to be more folks opting out rather than playing anyway.

And if u actually do end up playing you will know better than anyone else whether or not u should continue...don't forget that u aren't playing for money though.

Heck no. Its a battle of attrition.. A badge of honor. Its all about grit. You know this possibility when you sign up. The massive sweating, dizziness, blurred vision, cramps, and the abilty to combat those ......is what seperates the Winners from the Whiners............

And then they complain that they are obese. In a good portion of the USA, that would mean no exercise for much of the year. I haven't yet seen a kid die of heat in T-ball. What a stupid world.

105 F would be too hot for me I think (I'm 65 and regularly play matches in 90 to 95 degree heat). Playing three matches in a row in that kind of heat would be unnecessarily dangerous, imo.

I don't believe for a minute you can last 3 sets in 100 degree weather. You carry to much extra weight. Forget about 3 matches.
