With all due respect, your credibility is in question when you say that Luxilon strings have far superior tension stability than Tourna strings. That is an absolutely absurd statement. A rec player will get 3-4 hours great performance out of ALU tops before it dives off a cliff. This isn't a problem for pros who restring effectively every set. For a rec player, that's not really financially doable. To state that ALU has greater longevity than say BHB7 or BHBR is just not true. Are you sure you haven't switched your brands around?

Ok I'll humor you for now..

The worst in Lux offering as far as tension maintenance that I'VE found is ALuRuff. ALu smooth compared to BHS and BHB is a level above in initial and overall performance when fresh, and has similiar tension maintence to BH imo. I would rather play with ALu than BH given the choice.

I only hit briefly with BHBR and it definitely did not have the wow factor like AluR did for me.

Genesis has the best of the "cheaper" poly strings imo but you may like Tourna better,to each his own.

4G is on another level for me compared to any poly I've found as far as tension maintence, plays great and definitely top tier.

Quick note on the above post. I made a mistake on my calculation. Tension loss went from a ERT of 32 to 28 after 5 hours of hitting/drilling.

Note: This is a 4lb loss, not 5-6 as I stated.

To add, played another 1.5 hours and ert remains the same as does the playing characteristics.

That's what happened when I strung mine with VS gut in the mains and 4g in the crosses. Strung it at 57 and 56, and it was okay in the beginning, really stiff, but after hitting with it over a few days it now feels Amazing! 100% agree with Drak on this one.

Of course the Wilson sponsored players use Luxilon. 4G is the newest update.
What else can they use and keep the sponsorship, Enduro Pro?

^^^ I was surprised to find out that a lot of sponsored babolat players don't use babolat string,,,,, they use Lux.

Perhaps Babolat is more lenient than Wilson?
You, out of all of us, would be in a better position to know.

fortun, I would imagine Babolat is a bit more lenient. Wilson, on the other hand, for instance does not like the "W" logo stenciled in any color but red.

I wasn't surprised however to find that many Babolat players who could receive RPM for free, have opted to buy Lux Alu Power or Alu Power Rough. Simply put, they claim Like a lot of TW'ers have, that the string loses tension too quickly, dies quickly, and simply underperforms.

Cool observation.
I guess it's a good thing that none of the pros use Red Alert!

Strung a prestige pro with pacific gut in mains, 4G in crosses at 45lbs, with an ERT of 32. Strings felt really comfortable, no lack of power, spin or control. Great pocketing and very comfortable. I think if anything, the 4G magnified the comforting feeling of the gut vs other poly strings. I felt like the stringbed was really cupping the ball well. I dare say it felt like there was more dwell time.

Anyway, now I'm very curious how this plays in a full bed.
Hi Drakulie, Just wondering what gauge you're using ?

Rpm is great for 30 min to 1 hour then dead. Not all tour players can just change rackets with every ball change. Nadal does so he can use Rpm and do fine. It is a great string if it would just last for 8-10 hours. I too gave up that string while ago for that reason.

Proline X on the other hand plays just as well as RPM with more pop but it lasts around 8-10 hours.

It's also worth noting that Wilson doesn't own Lux. They merely own the distribution rights. If they were really forcing string down players throats they would make them play Wilson no?

I believe that Lux also does not sponsor any pro's. Some may receive free sets, but there are no paid sponsorhips.

Arrow I believe.........

I believe that what PS means is that Lux will give string for free but does not pay the player to use it. This is what I have been told also, directly from a Wilson exec.

Cheers, TennezSport

But I'm assuming it's no coincidence that most of the Pro users of 4g have hefty Wilson racquet sponsorships

Wilson has a world wide distribution agreement with Luxilon.

The best indicator of 4g's success on the pro tour might actually be the babolat sponsored players who choose it over alu power.

I think only Wilson Sponsored Players got first dibs on the string. Most likely because they were used in the testing process. I think we will have to wait a few months before we see non-Wilson players making the switch.
