Default Could you (or do you) live like this?

Ok, my last thread was a colossal failure, so I thought I'd try something more humerous (if you want to call it that).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkGSIg1VsGA

This woman (and her two children), literally live in a trash heap. I mean, oh, my, god. I have never seen anything that disgusting (and I live in China). It's unbelievable.

If I was her son I'd live on the streets. How the hell could you possibly ever let it get that bad.

If you want to see how bad it really gets, watch part 3, when the exterminators go in there. They refuse to treat the house because it's too dirty, or even finish examining it. They also find a nest of black widow spiders. Yes, this lady actually has a black widow spider infestation.

What do you think?

Just saw a bit of it. Seems like a rather nice family. I wonder how the kids put up with all this, or is it just a made up video ?

Anyway, to answer your question, yes, i do live like this.

Today, I went to the kitchen to wash the breakfast dishes, and in the soap-dish what do i find? A tiny, dead roach. (I washed it out, just in case anyone wants to know what i did. No last rites, no funeral, just a stream of clean water and on your way to the Indian Ocean or Bay of Bengal).

At night if i visit the kitchen, there will be quite a few (4-5) tiny roaches scampering around which vanish in a few seconds. Day time you don't see them, except if you open a cabinet to take out some dishes, there will be one running around looking lost.

Perhaps they come in from the basin outlet (drain or whatever it's called). Or maybe the exhaust fan above. Or even down the kitchen chimney.

That lady in your video should keep some gecko lizards. They'll finish off the roaches in no time. Or at least keep their numbers manageable down to a few thousand. Anyway, your video proves that cockroach infestations are not a health-hazard. That family lives quite healthily in the midst of them and seems very healthy and respectable.

Default This thread is gonna be epic

One tip: If you have a bad infestation, make sure your bed is raised and/or you sleep with ear plugs. Roaches can and do crawl inside people's ears. No kidding. Happened to a former roommate of mine in this sh144y group house we lived in. Freaked him out. The doc said he sometimes has to pull them out of people's ears.

How do you know their nationality? Have you checked their passports or suddenly said "Guten Tag" to them like they did in those old war movies?

They could be British or French or even Australian. Maybe I should leave some Wiener Shnitzel around and see if they like it.

I've worked out a deal with them. They come out only at night.

They've broken the deal. They come out during the day also if I go out. I don't wanna anger them too much, if they take over the world after the next world war, I don't want them getting personal with me.

Should I move to colder climes? Or wait for the next ice age to take them out lock stock and barrel ?

Many people live like that and whats bad is that in nations that have ample resources they dont get any benefit from it.

Imagine someone coming to your town and making a bundle and hardly noone benefits and you are stuck with the waste. That sucks.

oh, so it is not her fault she is living like that??

.. that is the problem with a lot of people today, they are too lazy to accept that their life is their responsibility and the only ones capable of making things better are themselves, I mean if you realize that you life is under your control and your control only then you'll see that changing things is not that hard, but if you keep thinking that it is up to somebody else then there is no way you are going to be able to beat that wall ... and if you add to that the bunch of (superior?) people trying to "help" them then you have the perfect combination.

The problem with that woman is that she doesn't have a reason to live, she is just passing by.

I agree. It looks like a set up to me. These people aren't poor and the whole thing is just too sensationalized. I bet they had a minor problem heard they could get on TV and let their house become a trashbin so somewhat could pay them to be on TV and clean it up for them.

Roachatouille !!

Last night I went into my kitchen after watching an animation movie about French Cuisine. These buggers were having a party in there. The entire clan. There was a tiny tv in the corner and they were watching a rerun of the Nole-Nadal AO final.

Should I just accept having my house taken over by roaches, or should I actually do something about it?
