Great article, thanks for sharing.
I saw Roger practice with Krajicek in Toronto in 2002 on centre court. That might of been same night or days before Carter died. Anyways, I don't understand all the bs and sh*t talking people waste their time here with. When you read articles like this, you really get to appreciate what these guys go through in their career, be it Roger or Rafa, Djokovic or whoever. Lots of respect for all of them.

Great article, thanks for sharing. Roger really is a stand-up guy. From the article, it sounds as if Roger has helped out Peter's parents financially too. If he has, kudos to him.

It was a tragic death.
I honestly think that Federer's mentality towards tennis changed after Peter Carter's death. It was like Federer realised that he needed to do everything he could to fullfil his potential and not let it go to waste. Getting the results didn't happen overnight, of course, but his consistency started to improve in late 2002. In 2003, he was playing very well and getting success, even though he wasn't yet dominant. And in 2004, he became the dominant player in the world. |

Anybody know, was Peter Carter just a coach with an open slot that day or did Lynette and Roger have an appointment specifically with him?

I always found it eerie how similar Pete and Roger's careers were.
They are born nearly 10 years apart, almost to the day Both also suffered the tragic early deaths of their coaches, which went on to affect them in profound ways.

Peter Carter was Federer's old coach, like how Peter Smith was with Lleyton Hewitt before Darren Cahill became Hewitt's coach. Federer's coach at the time of Carter's death was Peter Lundgren.

Thanks for the articles. I followed Roger's career only from 2007 & am always curious about his coaches (or lack of). Sounds like Peter Carter was a great man & great coach. |

Truly awesome article. Really good stuff. I love Federer even more now. I wish Carter were around to coach one of my kids.

Too bad Carter did not live to see TMF blossom.
