5 pages and no respect for Depeche Mode? I'm pretty sure musical perfection was achieved with 'Enjoy the Silence' - the music industry has been in a death dive ever since.

I enjoy driving over 110mph in my Mini Cooper S at 3AM in the CA desert on I-15, headed to Vegas listening to 'Switch On'. Also a good pre-tennis match tune.

I'm a big fan of EDM as well actually. I used to work quite a few gigs as a sound engineer for some smaller DJ's that came threw clubs here. (Even though I was well under 18... hahahaha!) It's pretty interesting how big it's gotten in the last 4-5 years though. (It also amazes me that there are other people in the same vein as me on this forum!)
That being said I don't do much writing for it any more since I'm in a full time grindcore band... I did really enjoy using Reason though, that program was really cool and super versatile. I did eventually move on to Logic about 2 years ago which I haven't played around with too much. -Fuji

It's really weird how music tastes evolve. From EDM to grindcore!!! Me for example: I started playing piano at 5 (classic stuff). Then I randomly picked CD's from my parent collection when I was around 10 yo: dire straits, led zeppelin, Pink Floyd. At 14 I was a die hard Nirvana and Pearl Jam fan. At 15 It was all about Metallica, Sepultura and Machinehead At 16, well Prodigy took over everything. Then at 17 Cherry Moon trax and techno won the game. Of course I still listen to the floyd's and other stuff, but the evolution was really weird and funny I guess

Yup, 2nd that on Beatport. All my traxx have come from Beatport for any of the home mixes I make. The fact they give you key, bpm and sort by Genre make the site a pleasure plus the sample bit of each song having a chorus and drop is great for any aspiring DJ out there.

In 1996, I was in SFO. We guys used to drive quite a bit and there was some radio channel which had some very nice instrumental music. We all liked it. Soothing, uplifting...
After returning home, I forgot about it for many years. But in the last year or so, I've grown tired of everything I've been hearing all these years. I've been searching for new stuff, mostly instrumental and relaxing. I've tried umpteen YT's and channels on iTunes, but never found that music i heard in SFO. Some of it is close but it's not the same. Anyone have any idea how i can find this out. e.g. how can i find out what radio channels the Bay Area (SFO/Redwood City) had in 1996 ? The genres that seem close could be chillout/smooth jazz but it's not quite the same. |
