Been "happily" using B5E at 52 lbs crossed with either NG or a Multi in a PB10 MID. I am interested in trying TB (1.30 and 1.25) in the mains and asking those who used both of these strings whether you UP, LOWER or keep the tension on TB same relative to B5E. Thanks.

Well...I found both to be relatively stiff strings but TB is more powerful. So, if you'd like the same stiffness then starting about the same tension would be a good idea. If you don't want the additional power then you might want to add tension to TB, but realize that it will likely play more stiff than your usual B5E setup.
This was my experience FWIW. |

TB 1.30 seemed to work best in 40s

For this string job, I crossed the 1.3 TB with 1.25 Klip Legend tour at 56lbs (this is the 1st time I am using the legend tour and TB! I usually cross the B5E with the regular legend, whisper touch or MCS). I have a league match tomorrow evening and I will report afterwards.

Tour bite is an old fashioned pure poly. Pretty stiff. Edge to the B5e in my book. If using Tour Bite I would suggest keeping tension in the mid 40s or lower.

Played with TB almost a full set in a league last Monday but had to go back to my trusted B5E and gut normal set up. I also gave TB another trial on Wed. Even at 52lbs crossed with NG, the TB string bed felt harsh/boardy and not as comfortable as B5E/gut.
The TB set up had slightly more spin but also alot more power. My BH and my Slice BH were where this set up shined compared to the B5E but since my weapon is my FH and many were sailing long, i had to put this raquet down and finish the match with my regular set up. I did not find TB/gut set up to be superior to my B5E/gut set up but rather the opposite. The control, the "pocketing" and the touch I get from B5E/gut is amazing. I do not see myself using TB again. When not playing league, a cheaper alternatinve that i use is to cross B5E With MCS and I find that to play very close to the gut set up as well. Last edited by jhusein : 09-30-2012 at 05:19 PM. |

B5E I played with at 54/57. I play the Tour Bite at 50/53. After a long playtest I decided that I prefer the Tour Bite because the spin and control I can get with it is unmatched my any other string I've tried.
