Talking Tennis fitness books/workouts

Hi guys,

I am 16 years old, weigh about 145lbs and am 5"10. I play tennis very seriously and play at a high level although due to me starting late I have not been given a fitness regime. I wanted to ask if there are any really good books/workouts you guys know would be good for someone like me that i could use at the gym or on court. I am very active and exercise at least 5 days a week and play a ton of tennis, thanks!

Complete Conditioning for Tennis, E. Roetert & T. Ellenbecker

This book has a lot of exercises and stretches targeted for tennis. Many of the exercises are aimed at smaller support muscles, for example of the shoulder that prevent certain injuries common in tennis. Some of these muscles should not be exercised with heavier weights but for endurance so that these small support muscles function when you are fatigued.

Another book more aimed at preventing injuries in general (but many of the discussed injuries are these same tennis injuries) is

Peak Performance Fitness, Jennifer Rhodes. I like this book because of its clear discussions of posture and injury issues, pay a lot of attention to posture issues. Balanced development. Unilateral exercises are helpful for balance.

In tennis, frequently the same overuse, poor technique or poor conditioning injuries occur frequently. The best way to avoid them is to understand the injuries, proper tennis stroke techniques and do some preventive conditioning.

I posted this fairly extensive response to a similar request three days ago: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=441174
