That net game sounds fun. How long did your practice that drill for?

My coach use to set up used large folgers coffee cans in a few spots in each alley and would feed balls and have me volley till I hit (or landed inside of 10 cans)

on a good day I can normally 10 cans in 15-17 shots.

I have annoyed plenty opponents with my ability to volley into their feet/ankles.

Try Solinco Tour Bite 16L in the Mains with Yonex Tour Super 850 16 in the crosses. The combination performs outstanding with no parallels in my playing experience for controlled power and spin.

Racquet Used : Volkl Organix 10, 325
Tension: Mains -50lbs / Crosses- 54 lbs

As for durability it lasts me a month and I play singles at least 4 times a week / 2 hrs average per session sometimes 3 hrs.

Nat. gut is very comfortable, had a good feel, and power as well, and strung tight gives me decent control, something that the cheaper guts cannot do (String at high tensions) . If you are not a string breaker, it can last a long time, but.. if you do not hit cleanly, like if you shank a serve it may not snap at the shank shot but can later snap in the bag, and you will be wondering why it broke. I have had nat. gut play well for a long long time, and also had it snap early most likely from a shank.

So durability can be an issue, as well as the expense, but for me and some of my clients there is nothing like it.Most of my nat. gut clients like nat gut strung low to mid 60 lb range, and this is why I do not even think of the cheaper guts that so many here are constantly looking for, as most cheap gut strings you cannot string at those tensions without chances of it snapping early and that reflects back on me, but with a quality gut this is where nat gut comes through at high tensions.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if you did hitting or rally for a majority of your sessions you'd actually be getting less time on your string bed, right?

You can't go wrong with high end natural gut as I never had a set break while stringing it or snap in my bag. That hasn't been the case with cheap gut where I have had two snap in my bag and one snap when I was finishing up near the end of the string job. What a complete waste of 40 minutes of my time .

Thanks for your input everyone.

I live on the west coast & still play when it is damp on the courts in the winter, I believe that natural gut doesn't hold up well to moisture (is this true?)

I have read some great reviews on Heads RIP Control. Considering a full bed or hybrid (have never had/tried a hybrid setup before). Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

New poly's every 4-6 hours of use or when shots start to spray, whichever comes first. I don't let them break. Costs much less to restring often than to see a physical therapist/surgeon.

I have taken a break from poly due to my off arm not enjoying it on my 2HBH. Main arm is fine with most string set ups these days.

Usually I'm using full beds of Head RIP Control 16 @ 50lbs +/- 4lbs depending on the frame.

Sounds good! It definitely plays different according to different tensions. String it low, and it's got lots of pop and comfort. String it high, and it gets a touch boardy with a reduced sweet spot.

In racquets I play long serious matches with, I use MSV Co-Focus / Isospeed Professional @ 39/41-45. For doubles and league play, I use Gamma TNT variants @ 50 lbs. On racquets I practice with, I use a multi or a poly du jour @ 30-39 lbs with Forten Sweet 16, Forten Nylon 15, or Prince Syn Gut 15L. Most setups break on me in about 1 month, so I rarely have to worry about strings going dead. Also by now, after so many years, and having backup racquets on the ready, I can feel when the strings have passed their peak.

For me, poly usually feels ok for about 3 hours, which is just not enough time. I'd rather use natural gut until it breaks or a good durable multi for about 10-12 hours (they usually break first).

This truly sounds like one I might want to investigate.
