Default New or used; big dog, or basic?

Have never strung. Don't break strings, just would like to control and experiment. Was going for the Klippermate basic. A Gamma 6004 just showed up on c'list for $350. I'd still have to spring for tools, string, etc.

I don't expect to make a living at this, but I bet my coworkers will want me to string for them.

Is the convenience of the big dog machine worth 2X the cost?

Thanks!

Absolutely! The 6004 is a very solid machine, and that price is excellent!
