How much do top-level coaches such as Brad Gilbert and Larry Stefanki get paid?
How much do players make for endorsement deals? I know the range is significant, but what is the range? In respect to other benefits, how many clothes and/or rackets are given to their athletes? Obviously, guys like Federer and Nadal get as much as they want of whatever they want, but does it work for someone not in the top 20? I read that Federer's deal with Nike is for $70 million over 10 years while appearance fees are as high as $1 million. So, prize money would seem an almost insignificant portion of their overall income. |

bull**** they do.
roddick gets something like $3 million a year just to use Babolat STRING, which a lot of pros have to pay for. Even the lowest ranked pros can get free racquets; but the top 20 get paid BANK to use racquets. |

You must be kidding! It's exactly the contrary. They get gazillions of $$$$ for their endorsement jobs for Nike, Wilson, Babolat, etc. - whereas it's rather questionable whether they indeed actually use the stuff they do the advertising for.

Top-tier coaches like Gilbert and Stefanki get a percentage of their player's earnings.

Overall rankings play a level of significance on how much a player gets paid (if any) to wear/use a company's gear.
However, other factors may come into play, such as a player's national ranking, how marketable the particular player is and how popular tennis is in the player's country. For example, Sania Mirza isn't one of the top-ranked players in the world, but she is the Indian #1 and is paid massive to wear Adidas gear as she is highly marketable back home in India. A certain former Australian #2 female player (this came from a very reliable source...but please do not ask for the name of the player), but ranked in the 70s in the world, was paid AUD$2,000 a week by Nike to wear its gear more than 5 years ago. In terms of how much stock a pro could possibly take from their apparel sponsors, I guess it really depends on your status. Federer and Nadal get customised Nike gear (refer to other threads) whereas most of the other Nike-sponsored pros get stock gear. I'd also imagine Federer, Nadal and Serena has Nike deliver the gear to them...whereas you read in blogs of other pros that before a grand slam or one of the other bigger tourneys, Nike distributes the latest gear "on-site" to the players... |

I think that this is an interesting issue as tennis is one of the few sports that the players have to pay for their own coaches, travel, accommodations, etc. I've always wondered what kind of investment they make in their coaches. |

I don't think. Some of the top 10 players barely make a 7-figure income. I have a feeling the coaches of top 10 players earn around like 200k. That's already a lot actually.

Also remember a players name. Roddick for example will always be the biggest tennis name after Fed and Nadal for endorsments and I believe in 09, he made more on endorsments than Rafa.

Around 5 years ago SI had an article about the top 50 paid athletes Tiger woods was #1 with around $85,000,000. $81,000,000 from that were endorsments.

Tiger's CADDY makes seven figures. So top-five coaches are probably making at least six.
If Fed had a coach, he'd be making seven figures. |

Argentine Coaches usually get paid 15% of the official tournament prize money the players they coach get.
For example, if Del Potro wins a tournament and the prize is 1 million dollars, dl Potro gets 850.000 dollars and Fraco Davin 150.000 dollars. Endorsement money goes 100% to the player |
