Default oops..

I have a vcore 100s
had it strung with gamma verve 17 at 54 and it seemed a little too loose.

So I had it strung up with the same string at 62 lbs on the same
machine. OUCH!

Talked with some players and they said if I laid the racket on the ground and stepped on the string bed some, it would loosen it up about 5-6 lbs without having to cut it out, spend more $$$, and restring.

Anybody ever heard of this? Should I get a really fat friend to do it if I want to lower the string tension even more? How often should I step on the strings and for how long to achieve the desire effect?

Wtf, are you being serious? Sounds like you could risk damaging the frame. See vid at around 3:45: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMBqPbLrZMA

Tennis rackets aren't as strong as you might think. Way back when I was in HS some guy tried to hit a basketball with his racket and the head snapped off. Take the loss of 1 string job or risk the cost of 1 new frame, its up to you.

Lay the racquet flat on a hard surface and put a 10-20# book + weights on the string bed. Leave for a few hours and your string bed will be looser. HTH.

Normally, people adjust their tension in 2-4# increments.

Verve will loosen in no time, hit with it for the first part of 2 practice sessions and then it should feel great....this frame will likely not last as long as the one strung at 54....based on the stretch involved with stringing it at 62

He was lucky his arm did not snap off instead.

There is absolutely no problem in loosening up a racquet by using your foot and bodyweight on the string bed. Just do it on a hard surface and place a towel underneath the racquet. Center your foot and bounce (not jump) up and down a few times -- repeat as necessary. You will be moving the strings slightly and will not place any undue stress on the frame itself. I have seen pros do the same thing. It works.

Bad luck, man. Hope your experience gets better with the frame and string. I know one combo of string / tension not to attempt when I receive my new frame. Otherwise, how do you like your racquet frame?

If 54 was a little too loose, you should have tried 56 or 57. 62 is a huge change. Just cut it out.

Cut it out?
Have you seen how much Zo Verve costs?
It's worth trying a few tricks as long as you don't damage the frame.
I agree that 62 was a bit extreme, though.

love the vcore 100s. Have played with it w/gamma zo rough 16 (THe orange stuff) and liked that pretty well too.
I had a RQiS tour 2 that I strung at 56 and it felt pretty loose too, but I agree, I got a little over enthusiastic. Verve seems to string up a little tighter too....

In my defense, back in the day, I would string my Prince 110 at 74 lbs w/ no problems. Who knew 10 sq. in. and 25 years of age would make such a difference! heh heh heh

The problem with the body weight and bowling ball tricks is that you're trying to have your cake and eat it too. You can't lower the tension of poly and expect to keep the playability the same if you lower it by stretching the strings out.
