Default Monfils retirement??

I saw a tweet earlier by one of the more popular tennis blogs/reporters, and they mentioned a rumor about Monfils possibly retiring earlier due to his injuries? Anybody heard anything about this?

good riddance. The guy had talent but was just not capable of putting it together. A guy who could've challenged the big 4 on any surface, talent-wise, and basically wasted it ala Gulbis and Nalbandian.

Why would you want to see him off the tour? Even if he underperformed, he's still always exciting to watch. His athleticism is insane. Gulbis is and was always crap, Nalbandian was just fat and lazy.

Wow. I hope he doesn't have to go out like this and that he finds something that helps him recover and get back on the tour.

Frankly would not be surprised. The guy has such a physical game, it was only a matter of time before the wheels fell off

No he's not going anywhere - L'Equipe online had a story this afternoon that the FFT docs found cartilidge nor miniscus damage and that for now they will treat his knee with anti-inflammatory drugs and not surgery. He will pull out of Shanghai and play in Europe for the rest of the season (Stockholm, Paris, Valencia). He's not retiring -

I notice you're new. Stick around and you'll see how often that happens on this board.

They did some tests. He doesn't need to have surgery after all (at least not yet).

well... L'équipe changed the content of that article!

they said earlier that his cartilage was not that ok and that they needed to gather more information from different specialists
