Default Forehand

i was wondering do you guys/girls bend your elbow or keep it straight for your forehand swing.
For the first time yesterday i tried keeping my arm straight for my forehand and it was amazing, more pace and more power.

i felt less pain in my elbow as well, which is a major plus as i had pain in my elbow 2-3 weeks ago.

what are your thoughts?
bent or straight?

Thanks

Just have to be a bit more exact with your spacing to the ball.
Can be tough with hard opponents or in dubs.

MUCH more exact, like perfect.
Leg's have already committed, so no adjustment availible, making you susceptible to body shots and curving slices. Works your rotators, but better than killing your elbow.

yeah movement will have to be more precise if i choose to go straight. the added power and pace on the ball is worth it.

for your elbowm maybe....
Few top players hit straight armed, not even Fed. His elbow is slighty bent all the time to allow for minute adjustments.

anything is better then the excruciating pain i had 2-3 weeks ago, NEVER AGAIN
i had also switched rackets that might of helped as well.

Likely your arm pain is from a poor contact point and gripping too tight.
I'm not convinced that the straight arm Fh is a good long term solution on this.
Likely to have both the tight grip and poor contact and even if you do well
in relaxing your grip at contact, getting a good contact point is harder with the
straight arm Fh imo.

I generally use a bent-arm forehand; it's much more comfortable to use for me. Bent-Arm also let's me control the ball pretty well, that, and sometimes I feel like I'm Andy Roddick

Haven't seem your video. Some suggestions will be to loosen your grip and lower your string tension.

As for straight arm forehand, I have a friend who used to hit with a double bend forehand, now rebuild the forehand (straight arm) from ground up. It will take quite some time...
