Potentially relocationg to DFW - Leagues drills for 4.0 player

Found out this week that I may have to relocate to the DFW area from ATL.

the area of the metroplex where I think I would be moving to would be north of I-30 and west of 360 and DFW.....i.e Keller, Colleyville, Grapevine, Southlake, Trophy Club and others in that region.


currently in ATL we have USTA and ALTA for weekend league play and we have Ultimate Tennis (formerly K-Swiss), T2 and League Tennis flex leagues primarily played during the week (available in doubles, singles and mixed doubles varieties)

additionally I have drills available for 4.0 and higher level players at local subdivisions and county parks.

I typically will play in two leagues and participate in drills once or twice a week.....year round...

was wondering what leagues and drills are available for a 4.0 guy in the area I described above?

We have USTA spring and fall leagues. Believe there is Ultimate Tennis and USTA Flex leagues as well (participation is probably limited though). There is something called TCD that is local facilities playing against each other (mixed only).

As for drills, you are limited to what various tennis centers offer in the evenings/weekend.

Honestly, DFW is not a great area for league play. There are a ton of tennis courts available though. Just most of them are parks/neighborhood courts and not managed facilities.

Just basing this on the fact that original poster is from Atlanta where ALTA is widespread.

Dallas is pretty much USTA or bust. Although the USTA leagues are very competitive.

This is extremely encouraging.... what Tennis Centers, Parks, areas, etc are perceived as the hot beds?

High Point in Plano generally fields the best teams but you will be a long way away.

This is pretty fluid and dependent on level. Some of the strongest teams are not put together based on proximity to a tennis center.

I think there is some consistency as to which teams are the weakest each year though. Best bet is to do a league advanced search on tennislink, drill down to Dallas or Fort Worth and see prior year standings.

EDIT - just reread your post. There are Dallas leagues and then there are Fort Worth leagues. THe dividing line roughly being DFW Airport. The area you describe falls in the FW category but, you can choose either city (or both). As a whole, Dallas leagues are more competitive (and more teams) than FW.
