Default Nike causing shin splints?

So I broke down and bought a pair of Nike Court Ballistec 4.3's, thinking that I would like them.
I've worn them in, they feel comfortable, but I've noticed that recently I have been getting some serious shin splints in both legs. I have never had this before and I haven't changed anything in my movement or style of play, just the shoes. Have any of you had a similar experience with Nike's?

yes, but i've been using nike CB's forever, I think shin splints is something that comes up over time, not so much all of the sudden due to new shoes.

I've had this problem and it was very frustrating and painful. I asked my wife (a physical therapist) and my trainer. They seem to think it's a combination of things and I tend to agree.

1) Shoes with arches that are too high for your foot. I think this prevents your foot from laying flat and does some weird things to your lower leg muscles.
2) Shoes that are a half size too big or too stiff...your foot flexes to aid in stability. Not good.
3) Lack of lower leg conditioning

I've been very careful to monitor these and it seems to help. For example, I just ordered and received a new pair of Adidas Barricade 7. I tried them on and immediately knew the arches are too high. I'm sending them back tomorrow because I believe they will cause shin splints...

just my 2 cents...
