Either Ronaldo or iniesta.

Ronaldo's performance was on par with messi except he actually won a trophy.

But if we were to go on trophies alone then it has to be iniesta.

Yeah, godly.

And I don't quite understand the link between player of the year and team trophies. It's true the best team in Spain last season was Real Madrid, but Ronaldo's performance levels still didn't match Messi's IMO.

So, in a literal sense, it's a reasonable view to consider Messi player of the year.

If there was an award for team of the year, then it would be different...
This.

It's and individual award, not a team award. And Messi is a beast. This season he broke Muller's record of goals in a season. And he gave thousands of assists too. I don't think Messi will ever play like he did last year. It was from another planet.

Yaya over Pirlo? Unbeaten in the league and his performances at the Euro's have to count in the favour of Pirlo

Having said that, i'm not sure City would of won the title without him so I can see the argument.

It's mainly an award for the previous season. Zlatan might have been good but Messi owned. His performance last season was at a level that words simply cannot describe. It's probably the closest thing to God playing football that we'll see in our lifetimes.

Yes man thats right , good point.

Im ahead of the game , 'as usual'..
so yep , in this case i think Messi is a good option. He was spectacular last year.

I maintain that so far this fall , Zlatan is looking awesome.

Best players i've seen so far this season, even though it's only 2 months in, are Messi, Ronaldo (no surprises with those two!).. the other two are Mata and Cazorla.

Reus has scored 9 goals (including internationals) so far this season.

Ahh, how could I forget about him! He's been incredible, you're right. He was on top form again in the Internationals too.

Probably the best German player at the moment, which is saying something when he's up against Schweinsteiger and Ozil.

What about Falcao??
He's leading the goal scoring list of Primera Division leaving the likes of Messi and Ronaldo behind him so far.

He kicked Chelsea's *** with a hattrick at the UEFA Super Cup (4:1 victory for Athletico)

And he scored the two winning goals for Columbia against Paraguay at their World Cup2014 qualification match last weekend.

So far this season Falcao takes the cake for me.

Falcao will be at Chelsea come January, probably! We have a knack of ruining great strikers

But yes, you're right, he's been fantastic for awhile now. I believe Drogba and Villa were the best strikers of their era, Falcao certainly seems to be leading the pack for the newer breed though.

I really, really hope he won't go to to Chelsea.
Imo he should stay in Madrid. The team got mad potential and they got a great opportunity to build a proper team around him.

But he obviously doesn't want to stay. And Athletico will earn big time on him.

Next years award shouldnt be based on a quarter season.
Let's see how he does until May next year. As of now he's definately leading the whole thing.

Yeah, they need to sell because of the debt they are in. I think he will probably go next summer, to Man City or Chelsea.

Chelsea makes most sense as he would be the main man and they need a striker, badly.

I think it should be a swap deal plus cash. Torres is still a deity at Atletico and if we can throw him back to Spain for Falcao plus cash I'm sure they'd be happy as can be. Torres needs to go back to Spain ASAP.
