He currently leads 16-12, and with the form Djokovic is in he probably would have lost. Preserving the H2H against Novak is vital as he cant't have a negative H2H against two of his biggest rivals! Yeahhh he has a negative H2H against Murray, but that doesn't really count because Murray cheats his way to victory every time (and no1 likes him)
So this argument plausible? I think it is.

Federer was full of errors today and Murray played better. Fed fans better start to accept it because I think Murray is going to beat him a lot in the future. Fed is old for tennis already guys. |

It would make sense if it was against someone who he is leading the H2H like 9-2. But he would have tied the H2H with Murray if he won.

What...you think that's how players think? What he was thinking about was winning Shanghai and having a chance to finish #1. Do you really think it's all a big scheme? lmao

Some people have too much time on their hands. Murray defeated Federer fair and square and it is not a shock at all since, a) their h2h has always been close and b) Federer has really declined and is very inconsistent. You never know which version of Federer is going to show up on any given day. Murray is in his prime and is confident now. That is life.

That is part of the sport. Certainly he is not going to take a match against Stepanek as seriously as a match against Federer. They ALL play mind games with each other. Federer, Djokovic, Nadal and Murray all do it.

Hmm well I don't know that there was any tanking going on, but it sure is strange to watch the most accomplished player of all time put in erratic performances against his rivals. Same thing really against Berdy last month. Which begs the questions: how do we define Federer's decline? He's not quite what he used to be, but I can't quite put my finger on what's gone wrong for him. It's at the point where in these bigger matches, I either expect him to play brilliantly and dominate or fear that he will get embarrassed. I know what Djokovic and Murray are going to bring to the table, but I have no idea what Federer's going to bring. Sometimes I literally feel like he could get double-bageled. In particular he seems very edgy and unnerved when he plays Murray or Djokovic, which is a bit odd.

I don't think he tanked exactly but he's keeping his best reserves for the indoor finale most likely because that's where his chances are the highest.

No. There is nothing embarrassing about having a negative H2H against rivals 6 years younger than yourself.
