Default Is the hype for Felix Baumgartner's jump justified?

Don't get me wrong, Felix's jump was amazing, but i'm not sure what the hype is all about when Kittinger did roughly the same 52 years ago. You read me right, 52 years ago!

I guess a couple more mph and breaking the sound barrier is a whole new level...or perhaps marketing hype more than anything?

God knows how much $$$ Red Bull pumped into that jump to make it matter.

I'd rather watch "Jack@ss" on MTV. Far less difficult "stunts," but way more entertaining.

Took 52 years for somebody to get stupid enough to try the same thing, but a couple miles higher.
I know most humans wouldn't have the cajones to even take a balloon ride up that high, much less voluntarily jump off.
Then again, some people sail the ocean's solo, some try to climb K-2, and other's eat multiple hotdogs.

No it was freaking amazing........he jumped from 24,0000+ ft higher than Kittinger. It also shows you how amazing Kittinger's jump was - it was guys like him and Yeager and countless other test pilots we don't know about who got us to the moon in the end.

And today in America our kids can't even play dodgeball anymore.........sigh.

Dodgeball was the best, most entertaining, and most pressure filled game we did in grade school. Being tiny, and having a huge arm, made success easy, even when the ring was composed of throwers who hated my guts...for being good at it.
Lots of strategy applied on both sides.
