Why didn't Jimmy Connors play the tournament from 1974-1976?

He played it in 1973:

So don't know why he didn't play it the next few years. I know that in 1974 it was in Australia. Maybe he didn't want to make the trip (though he did make it for the Australian open played at the end of 1974/beginning of 1975), which was only a few weeks later at the same site.

Yes connors played also the 72 Masters
I think it has to do with his contract with Riordan
