15 Year old serving

Can you guys look at this? He just turned 15 and he set up his camera at his height 4 feet from the baseline to see what his serve looked like from a returning point of view. They are mostly just 2nd serves/kick. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

If he wants critique on his motion and technique, try getting a close up view instead. This vid you posted, he is too far away. Don't really know what you want us to comment on. I saw some balls kicked up nicely. The T-serve looked mostly long.

Get a coach's eye app for iphone, iPAD or smart phone. It cost less than $ 5. Works great. You can get a slow motion to see his toss and motion. If you post the close-up vid here, people can see it better and help comment and tweaking his tecnique.

Looks like he has decent kick on those, but would be good to see his motion also. Coach's eye as was already recommended would be helpful.

1. He should get at least 90% IN. By 1:37, looks like 40%.
2. 4' inside the baseline....place camera AT backboard, 21' behind baseline.
3. How high is the camera placed? We don't know his height, do we?
4. Obviously, he can hit it pretty hard, nice high bounce, good pace, but most aren't going IN!
5. As with all serve vids, you gotta state ball used, court temps.

Well if those are supposed to be second serves he really needs to get the percentage up. He seemed to be less than 50% which makes it nearly impossible to hold serve.

4' from the baseline. Still need to know how high is the camera placed.
I"m 5'11". Serving second serves, just topspin, not the twists, most balls bounce around shoulder high to someone my height. Serves IN count, nothing else counts. Shoulder high should be just under 5'.
Same with first serves that are topspin, like the vids, but those go much faster, same bounce height.
From a 63 year old who claims "100" mph first flat serves. With Dunlops, in sub 60 degree air temps, 400' elevation.

Where did your foot land? Front the video it seems you had a small hop to the side rather into the court.

Roddick style feet prep, folowthru in direction of target looks fine.
Quick to prep is good and efficient.
Horrid serve percentage, with some misses by a mile, or 5'...which is a mile.

Setup was for our viewing pleasure from a RETURNER's point of view. Camera needs to pann left a bit, to cover up the T serves.
Seems an extremely low percentage for spin FIRST serves, and a disastrous percentage for 2nd serves.
Ball speed and bounce height seem average for an adult 5'10" 160 lbs player, so his serve has some power, but little control.
