Quite easy to do when the match is fixed and the only good player on the court doesn't care about winning.

Oh, who the heck gives warm handshakes when they've just lost a match they should have won unless the opponent is a close friend like Djokovic and Tipsarevic etc? Federer and Nadal sure as hell don't! Ask Lukas Rosol?

Yep, 2 missed in Tokyo, 5 in Shanghai and now 1 in Bercy. That's 8 in all! I hope he isn't going after some dubious record or something. If he is, it seems to me he may have already set it!

Why you don't like Janowicz? This is his first MS tournament and guy beat Kohlchreiber, Cilic and Murray! Has a good chance in the quarterfinals against Tipsarevic...

He's 6'8" but you could never tell. He really moves well , has a great ground game, volleys well and can serve as if from a treetop.

and here is same info on his background poorly translated by google

22-year-old Janowicz, resident of Lodz, the son of Anne and George, the former volleyball players, junior years collecting trophies, and everyone around you repeat that with such physical conditions, is bound to succeed. He began playing tennis when he was five years old, but already a few years ago ran on the court. - Although I could not hit the ball, but the rocket is not parted - he says.

In 2007, he made his debut in the junior Grand Szlemie. I immediately came to the U.S. Open final where he lost 3:6, 4:6 to Ricardas Berankis. Marcin Gawron achievement equaled last year (junior Wimbledon final). A year later, he played in the final of junior Roland Garros (lost 3:6, 6:7 (5) Tajwańczykiem Tsung-Hua Yang) and the Davis Cup, also on his debut, defeated Belarusian Max Mirnego.

But to break into the adult tennis could not. Wailed the head and muscles because they withstand tough matches. Laboriously climbed from fourth to second hundred, but it's stuck there. Frustrated by the lack of sponsors.

"For many years, no one wanted to help him finance trips, paying hotels. Needed 150 thousand per year, which is not an astronomical amount. Jurek was still talking about the lack of interest of sponsors and does not hide that he was considering playing under the flag of Qatar national team. Offer sheiks rejected for religious reasons, and Poland is still no one wanted to help him. situation was so serious that it could not afford to join the elimination of the Australian Open, "- writes the blog" Vamos' "journalist Mark Furjan.12 Sport.pl.

- In Poland, it is not easy to deal with professional tennis. All my life I struggle with the lack of needed the money. My parents sold the shop and flat, so I could be the sport full-time, - says tennis player. Now his main sponsor is a construction company PBG.

Woke up in the summer at Wimbledon. As the storm passed the preliminary round, and then two rounds of the main event. Later, he won a few challengers, he was promoted to the first hundreds, and recently caught up with the list of ATP Kubota. - I play better because I believed in myself. There was a bias that goes wrong like it I play on, and not get down the court - said in an interview with Sport.pl at Wimbledon. But he added that it was also important to change the rocket (for a more flexible, "forgiving mistakes") and the new coach of physical preparation.

I was very impressed with his movement considering how tall he is. Nice on the run forehand, big strokes, and he actually has some variation in his game. I hope he does well.

When I saw those straight set upsets over cilic and kohlschreiber I knew the Murray matchup was going to be the match of the tournament and so far it was! I think jerzyshore had 7 aces in a row to make it 5-2 in the 3rd set and his victory celebration after the match was just joyously infectious. Awesome guy

I agree that he has really earned some great wins this week. He's played some great tennis.

But does it seem like he kind of has a punk attitude sometimes? Seems like he was staring Murray down a lot after winning hard points. Maybe I'm wrong, but I really got the impression he was kind of acting a little punk-y. Anyone have a good reading on this guy's personality yet?

He was just in the zone.
That was the most important match in his life! So much depended on it.
His parents sold their apartment and shop to support him, he is in debt, no money to fly to AO just like last year.

His interviews can give you same idea, another poor translation by google:

After defeating Andy Murray secured Jerzy Janowicz rise not only to the quarter-finals, but the "50" world ranking tennis players. Measuring 203 cm resident of Lodz gained confidence and now dreams of successive rounds of the BNP Paribas Masters in Hall Barca. - Tie break gave me such a kick that in the third set I played my best tennis in my life. Then it was madness. I wish every tennis players to be able to feel something for yourself - Janowicz said after the match.

Mariusz Rabenda: What words heard from Murray after the last ball . Congratulation casual or something more?

Jerzy Janowicz - He did not say a word. Even though there was no congratulations. It was evident after him, he was just mad at the world.

do you remember Andy, from three years ago, when for the first time you played against each other. It's the same tennis player, or even better?

- If the tennis player Andy was the fourth in the world and now he is four, this means that he can consistently play the best tennis in the world. I then, the first time I played with him I was very, very young player. I was barely 18 years old. I remember my thoughts more than the match. I was so excited as I do not know that I can play with this player. The mere chance of playing Murray was from me, a great experience. I was not thinking about winning.

And now? Today in the morning or right before the game what did you think?

- This was not the same. I wanted to play the best I can and I thought about my chances. On the one hand, as it looks the tennis against someone like that it automatically appears a top-down kind of thought from the failure. On the other, however, appeared to be quite serious this thought: "I want to win, I want to win."

And it was not displaced when Murray served on the match point?

- To be honest, after match friend came up to me and asked about his match point, then I asked: "What do you mean, what match point." I was so confused about what was going on, I did not coded this point. I know that in the second set Murray was at one point close to winning the match, but I'm concentrating on this, to continue to play your tennis. Then the information came to me that I defended match point when accustomed to the idea that I can win this match, I thought to myself, "Miracles happen."

It was not a miracle. You played the perfect match, at the highest level.

- I do not feel well today in the main hall. For the first time I played on center court, where there are no walls, the roof is very high, the sound propagates differently than where I played the previous matches. It was a completely different conditions. Therefore, in the first games my second service did not work as it should . I have not played the return well too, like I wanted to. Fortunately, my first serve consistently operate and it could build its shares. With time, however, got used to the new conditions and other elements of the game also began to function as it should.

you brought your game to the point that after winning the second set tiebreak the audience stood up for applause. How does it feel for a tennis player?

- When it comes to the moment of the second set, I do not quite know, because I was in such a trance that concentrating only on the court. The tie break has given me such a kick that in the third set I played my best tennis in my life. Then it was madness. I wish every tennis players to be able to feel something like that for himself. I have no words to describe the feeling that accompanied the victory.

Roger Federer pulled out of the BNP Paribas Masters, Novak Djokovic has already busted, you eliminated Murray. Not as strong field left in Paris.

- I am aware that there are no weak rivals. They are all world leaders. So far, more absorbent and I am happy with what has happened. I'm thinking, what else can I do, winning with Roger, Rafael? After all, this is the same level as Murray. And such a thought appears, it may be a beautiful dream I'm in for a while in a different world. Then bubble will burst.

Two days ago, when we talked you promised that Murray win will assure you getting into the main ladder in January tournament in Sydney the Australian Open. You kept your word!

- Well, sure I have taken care of Sydney. [Laughs]

You got a lot more. This promotion to the quarter-finals gives you a pass to all the major events of the world at least to the middle of next year.

- This is the other tennis world? But I stand by it, that's what I said before the match with Murray - for now the rankings I do not analyze, I do not count points, I'll count everything after my return from Paris.

You are before match with Janko Tipsarevicz. It is also a high level shelf.

- As I said, there are no weak players. But I think that now everything is in front of me. I won with Murray, maybe I can win with others here too. It will not be easy, because first I have to gather myself together. After such a hard match your body is felt. My shoulder back hurts, but you have to go with the flow - to me a chance for semi-final,

I understand that today on the phone you already cried together with your mom.

- Yeah. First, I alone cried like a beaver, which now everyone can afford to watch on YouTube, because I did it publicly on the court. And then again with my mom we cried from happiness.

this quote is interesting: But he added that it was also important to change the rocket (for a more flexible, "forgiving mistakes") and the new coach of physical preparation.
i wonder which racquets he means.

i like the way he talks (even with the 'yoda' translation).
he may look punky and angry, but it's not Tomic punky.
it's just that he has that seriousness of winning at all cost.
total opposite of a bratty tennis player a la Tomic.
at least he is 100% on winning, and also has his parents to concern about. not a sports car driving little punk like Tomic.
(i brought up Tomic as the exact opposite)

actually i think he could take out Tipsy. why not?

Thanks, I appreciate this. Pretty informative. He seems honest, transparent, and humble. Not bad. Hope he and Tipsy have a great match.

The part "I alone cried like a beaver" was the best part

after watching again the (excellent quality) highlights:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MQfBOUDtJ4

i think he might be a top 10 material (even more than Raonic).
unlike Isner, he's always on attack mode, with many wicked shots and also a peculiar personality with a bit of humor (if you watch the highlights you'll see). he's my favorite upcomer now.
just watch him
