Default I am being tracked.....serious.

Last month all sales reps were issued the latest iPad with Airwatch installed. I'm in the medical field in sales...I won't mention my company. The iPad is pinging a signal 24/7 as to my location. My company can pull up my location info at anytime and match it to the sales calls I've entered to see if we are lying.

I went to the Apple store talked to a Senior Tech......just to see if my company was bluffing. His response......."you are screwed. They can tell when you leave your house, when you come home.....where ever the iPad is...it is beaming your location in real time.

No more coming home early....leaving late.....stopping of at Guitar Center during the day...ugh.

Big brother, 1984, is upon you.
Cell phones, computers, even certain watches, car sensors, toll plazas, the list goes on.

Don't give up, it is time to come up with clever solutions to this huge invasion of privacy.

I'll never understand the need to watch an employee's every move. If you have no faith in their ability to get the job done then don't hire them or get rid of them. Humans aren't machines, productivity isn't a simple rate problem.

As a first suggestion I will recommend a Faraday cage. You can run some simple tests to be sure it is blocking the signal.

I thought most of this hi tech tracking stuff stays ON even when the device was turned off.

That's no fun.

Blocking the signal or turning it off isn't a good solution if they want it on, of course.

Just "drop" it (accidentally of course). Then say "sorry, it got broken". Or tell them it was "stolen".

Get educated on David Icke's writings and get off your knees.

I'd say the medical sales reps brought this on themselves. The ones who come to my office like to overspend at restaurants because they tell their company they took 6 docs out to dinner instead of 2 (and go to restaurants where they know the manager will falsify the bill), or carefully choose strip clubs where "Consolidated Enterprises" comes up on the credit bill instead of "Boobs a Go-Go." If it's Friday, they'll be knocking on the door when I'm with a patient asking if I can take 5 seconds to sign their pad screen (inferring I spent time with them) so they can make the week's quota of contacts. Yeah, I'd want to keep track of them too if they worked for me.

Let the battery die, a lot.

Yes, that sucks. One of the only reasons to go through all the grief of being a sales rep is the ability to screw off occasionally. (I was pissed when they wanted me to carry a beeper. I can't imagine the GPS up your butt scenario.) F that, just turn it off if you are screwing off and tell them you don't know what happened.

There has to be a countermeasure of some sort. But, frankly why would you want to be a sales rep for a company like that? That is rather intrusive. As long as you are making your numbers, they should not care what you do.

It seems like the best thing to do would be to find out some more technical details of the tracking system. Find out what kind of accuracy and resolution they have.

Once you have done that, walk/drive in paths that trace out obscene shapes and language adjusting the size of said shapes to the accuracy they have available.

Give the pad to a stripper as a tip.

Better yet, sell it on e bay and tell them you it was stolen from your car.
