.. as Istomin and Tipsarevic do?
why he's always struggling with lenses and special drops which cause some disadvantages during the game? |

For me, it changes my depth perception a little to much for tennis with glasses on (whiff). I use contacts and never have any issues. When I do have to wear glasses, they shake around a little. The only glasses I could imagine using are squash glasses (I prefer the head ones) with the strap on the back.

I tried playing with contacts but can't. Since I have astigmatism in one eye the contacts are weighted and will move a bit with rapid head movements. Everything gets blurry for a fraction of a second, too distracting. I'm used to wearing glasses but I'm sure it would be an adjustment to start wearing them from scratch.

I love it when I sweat and the drops start crawling down the insides of the glasses, while I'm looking into the sun trying to retrieve a high lob, on set point, and I'm tired and worn out.

In terms of vision it's more advantageous to wear contacts (assuming you don't have any particular eye problem like astigmatism). You're eyes have a certain level of peripheral vision and wearing glasses may actually not cover the entire degree of peripheral perception. Either the glasses lens doesn't cover the missing spots, or the frame is actually blocking that area. Since contact lenses cover your eye you will have corrective vision coverage over the full range of peripheral vision.
So assuming you don't have any problems wearing contacts, I don't see why you'd want to wear physical eye wear. In the case of Djokovic, I don't think he has lens problems every match, so I think the pros should still outweigh the cons. |
