Playing again after a long layoff. 1HBH a little shaky. Seems like I hit it more effectively when A) I have a full shoulder turn (back of shoulder facing net) and B) I'm close enough to incoming ball (spacing) that my swing path is straight ahead from my shoulder, arm extending straight to target. I would describe it as getting behind the ball versus hitting it out to my side.
This is the stroke that breaks down first when I have a layoff. I am pretty sure it's related to footwork, spacing, and shoulder turn. Any tips or feedback would be greatly appreciated. |

You just described a 1hbh topspin shot. Full shoulder turn, ball not too far away, ball in strikezone.
If you need to reach low, high, or wide, use slice. If you need to defend body shots, use slice. |
